Neova Waterless Cookware: How We Survived The Worst Ice Storm of the Century

The Bottom Line: Best and most versatile cookware I have owned. Takes some getting used to cooking on LOW, but well worth the money. Has performed beautifully on gas, electric and camp stoves.

It was the storm that took a lot of the Northeast by surprise. It was not predicted, nor was it expected. But it was a time when people learned what they were REALLY made of.

It was the time that showed our family just HOW special Neova cookware really is.

My husband awoke to get ready for work that history-making morning and was greeted at our door by a wall of ice. All of the doors and windows were frozen shut. We were trapped in our house.

The ice left us without power, water, telephone and all of the comforts we are all used to in day to day life.

It looked like it would be a long time before we could get out of our home. We brought up our kerosene heater and our good old trusty camp stove. Due to the basement crock (and no sump pump working), we were able to have boiled water for drinking, cooking and bathing.

This horrible situation lasted for 10 days (the damage in some areas was the worst suffered in over a century). We were able to finally get out of our home in a few days, but there was no power or phone for the rest of the time. The phone stayed out of order for over 2 weeks.

This could have been a disaster for eating, since we eat a lot of natural foods. We bake our own bread and make a lot of our food from scratch, including grinding our own flour.

For the entire period, however, we were eating cakes, coffee cakes, bread, rolls, stew, pizza and lots of other great things, while many others ate canned or old food.

How did we do it? With our little Coleman camp stove and NEOVA cookware.

I was first introduced to waterless cookware by my husband who was showing me his mother's set. He told of the wonders of the cookware and how you could warm up a few things with it at once in layers (on top of each other) etc.

I used that cookware a lot when we used to house-sit. I was not impressed. The flavor was horrible and I thought that they burned really easily. You most certainly could not bake with it.

From that time on, I looked for a really good waterless cookware that was worth all of the hoopla. I have tried many brands of waterless cookware, and still the verdict was the same.

I was not impressed.

I was a Vita Mix dealer when the company introduced a new product- NEOVA COOKWARE. I did not get excited. The LAST thing I was interested in doing was actually having to sell waterless cookware. I sighed and threw the pamphlet in the trash.

At the time, I had a big set of Revereware pots and pans as well as some other rather expensive cookware.

I have to admit, for being primarily vegetarian, the thought of making ANY vegetable dish on the stove was really nauseating. I just used to say that I was not into cooked vegetables. The only pans that I could use for a few things were my cast iron pans, but there are times when not even cast iron can be used for cooking vegetables.

Time went by, and I broke the handle off of my Revereware lid. We began to discuss buying other cookware, but could not find any.

Finally, one day, I actually picked up the brochure that I had received on NEOVA COOKWARE. It really looked great. As a dealer, I was entitled to a really good introductory price, so we took all of the money that we had and purchased the set.

Our lives have never been the same since.

Here are the details about NEOVA COOKWARE:

Picture a cake made of five layers. Layer #1 is on the bottom, and layer #5 is on the top.

Layer #1 and #5- 18/8 gauge stainless steel
Layer #2 and #4- pure aluminum (none of this touches the food)
Layer #3 Aluminum alloy

The construction allows even heat distribution not only on the bottom, but the sides of the pan as well. As a result, you end up with a virtual little oven of sorts. This is a quality I have NOT seen in any other cookware. There are NO HOT SPOTS in these pans.

Pan bottoms will stay FLAT and not warp. This is also covered by lifetime guarantee. I have even had a pan left on the stove on high and burned for a very long time that took some time to clean, and the bottom stayed completely flat.

The lids form a vapor lock and make the pans hold in the moisture. Lids will not warp and are very sturdy and are interchangeable.

The pans come with a mirror finish that stays on the pans even when you do not continually polish them (as I do not after 10 years)

Are made of 20 gauge steel and spot welded with lifetime guarantee

Lid handles are made of stay cool black material that does stay cool when cooking on the stove. There is also a phenolic plate under the knob to prevent you from burning your knuckles.

The knobs on the pan are made with a brass thread for the screw instead of plastic. They are guaranteed for life and I have only had to have one knuckle shield replaced in 10 years (due to rough housing men).

What can you do with NEOVA COOKWARE?
Wow. This is really amazing to me. This cookware is actually the most versatile cookware we own. Cast Iron comes second.

---The best tasting steamed vegetables ever. There is not a vegetable that we have cooked in 10 years that ANY of us turn our noses up at. That is a complete turn around from before we owned this marvelous cookware. The vegetables KEEP THEIR COLOR and the flavor is exceptional.

--All kinds of baked goods in this cookware - on the stove and in the oven. On the stove allows baking in the summer without heating up the house!

--All in one meals in the oven and leave it in there a few hours if necessary without risking burning. Meat roasts shrink 2/3 less than roasts made in the oven with other bakeware or cookware.

What can you bake in the NEOVA COOKWARE on top of the stove
rolls (including whole grain)
coffee cake
hard boiled eggs (in 2 Tablespoons of water)
cake (2 layer size in one pan)

What does the set come with
10 in. Fry Pan with lid - can also be used for crepes
6 qt Stew Pan with lid- good for roast, soups, whole chicken
13 in. Chef pan with lid- excellent stir fry, brownies, pizza, all-in-one-meal
2 1/2 qt sauce pan with lid- 2 layer cakes, cheesecake, other saucepan uses
8 in fry pan with lid - smaller crepes, omlettes, meals for two
4 qt soup pan with lid - soups, small roasts, steaming
1 1/4 qt saucepan- excellent for sauces, oatmeal or other smaller prep
2 burner griddle/ cookie sheet- THE BEST COOKIE SHEET I HAVE EVER USED!!! - grill, bake broil

This cookware is the best that I have ever used- and I have used many other cookware sets. Do not be fooled, there is other cookware on the market that looks a lot like these, but they do NOT work like these do. Trust me, I have tried them, just to be sure.

I have not found any cookware that is as amazing or versatile as the NEOVA COOKWARE is.

It was running about $899 for the whole set, but they often offer other combinations for those that only want certain pieces. It was a HUGE sacrifice for us to buy - even at the dealer price I got, but we have NEVER regretted it. EVER!
