Classic Round Stone For AWESOME Tater Tots & Pizza!

Cons: The oils from my food stained my stone, thus trapping the flavors
The Bottom Line: The fact that it's impossible to clean weighs out over how the food tastes. A good item, though.
A couple of months ago, I decided to become a Kitchen Consultant for The Pampered Chef. With my sales kit came the Classic Round Stone to demonstrate the difference in food when it is used.
To tell you the truth, I didn't believe that there would be that big of a difference in the food. I was totally wrong, and pleasantly surprised.
The first thing you notice about the Classic Round Stone is its texture. It's very grainy and rough. It almost feels as though it is unfinished. It only comes in one color, too, which is a natural beige color. You can also get two different sizes. The Classic Round Stone has a 13 inch diameter while the Large Round Stone has a 15 inch diameter.
The stones are heavy. I don't know the exact weight, but I do know that I need two hands to put it in and take it out of the oven. The stone also maintains heat for a while after baking, so be sure to use an oven mitt for the first half-hour after removing the stone from the oven.
I made tater tots on this thing, and they were the best that I have EVER had. Seriously. The outside was so crunchy, and the inside was soft. The stoneware from The Pampered Chef heats all of your food through and through, and makes for even baking. I have also made pizza, cookies, and rolls on my Classic Round Stone, and I am never disappointed.
However, I do have a complaint. Whatever oils are in my food seep into the stone and remain trapped there. I have had my Classic Round Stone for about two months, and it is completely stained. I've done everything to clean it, too: scrub, soak, wash, put through the dishwasher... You get the idea. It's still stained.
And with the stains comes the flavor or the food that caused the stain. So, my tater tots has a little pizza flavoring to them, as did my biscuits. I wouldn't bake cookies on there anymore, to tell you the truth. I don't want my chocolate chip cookies flavored like pizza!
Another problem is that there isn't a "lip" on the sides, so it's easy for items that roll (such as tater tots) to roll off and hit the floor. My puppy, Kiwi (whom you can read about by clicking here) always hovers around the stove when I use this because something always ends up on the floor.
This is a really good item to have, especially if you're reheating pizza a lot like I do, or if you cook a lot of frozen foods. Unfortunately, I can't give you any advice about cleaning the Classic Round Stone. If I get any tips from anyone, I'll be sure to pass them along!
