Pros: easy to use, no irritation for sensitive skin
Cons: smell isn't strong enough to overpower the smell from dirty diapers on skin.
The Bottom Line: Overall this is an excellent baby product that promotes healthy skin for those children with sensitivity issues.
I have been a parent for the last 3 years. I am a single parent. So being that I have no one else that I can rely on besides myself, especially being the full custodial parent, I know that I have to make decisions that are right by my son. This of course is in regards to every aspect of his care and development. I know that if I slip up there isn't anyone else that is going to come behind me and fix those mistakes that I have made. So for me it is incredibly important that I consider my decisions and do the right thing the first time to ensure that I don't have to try to backpeddle to fix things.
My son for the most part has been incredibly lucky and doesn't have any serious medical conditions. He is however an unlucky recipient of some of my junk genetics. He has some serious skin problems, much like mine that prevent him from coming in contact with fragrances/dyes, numerous chemicals, and of strangely enough plums. While these are relatively easy issues to overcome, it has definitely caused some issues for him over the years.
One of my biggest issues with his sensitive skin is with diapering in general. Since he refuses to potty train completely at this time and being that I work so often, I don't have the time to work with him enough to make it happen, I have to rely on diapers still. The problem is that he has horrible problems with diaper rash. If I don't change his diaper immediately, he will develop a seemingly instant rash. Because of this, I am constantly applying product to ensure that he always has a barrier on his skin to protect him as much as possible.
One of the items that I use to protect his skin from related issues are the sensitive wipes by Pampers.
Scent While one could assume that a sensitive wipe would lack any real smell, it most definitely does have one. The wipes themselves have a smell that is somewhat like aloe, however I can't really distinguish what the smell itself is. The smell is somewhat light, but it is definitely there. The major issue with the smell is that with a poopy diaper, you pretty much have to give your child a bath in order to get the smell off of their body. With other wipes I find that their smell is so strong that it can overpower the smell of poop, but the sensitive wipes most definitely cannot.
Effectiveness The product is simple, yet the sensitive wipes aren't quite as good as standard wipes. The main reasoning for this is because of how thin they are by comparison. The standard wipes are somewhat thicker and are easier to use than these wipes. I have found myself doubling or tripling up on the wipes with each swipe in order to ensure my own personal cleanliness because of how thin they are.
Final Thoughts This is an excellent product, I haven't had any issues with any skin reactions so far. They perform like any other wipe would but without the irritation. The only major issue that I have is that they really don't have a strong enough smell to mask the embedded smells that are left on the skin of your child after they do their business in the diaper. It is because of this, that I find myself giving my son regular baths whenever he has a really bad diaper. This seems to be the only real way to remove the smell completely.
