Planet Hollywood in the Big Easy

Pros: good service, no wait, great food

Cons: Struggling business, too bright, kind of pricey

I have been to several Planet Hollywood restaurants in the United States. From New York to Nashville, every menu has been the same. My mother was completely against going to Planet Hollywood for lunch while we were in New Orleans, but I begged her. (It's a hobby of mine to collect pins from Planet Hollywood and the Hard Rock Cafe.) We were walking down Decatur Street, and just happened to pass Planet Hollywood. There was a menu posted outside.

The entrees offered are totally unique to New Orleans. You could imagine our delight when we found this out. I was just going to get the L.A. Lasagna, but it wasn't even on the menu! Mom was excited, too.

We returned for lunch around 12:30. There were maybe 2 other tables, so we were seated immediately. The service, by a waitress named Sachie, was quite prompt. Mom ordered the Creole Cob Salad while I tried to Roast Beef Po' Boy. We also ordered a side of Hush Puppies. Our food came out less than ten minutes later! It was very good, too. We'd never had Louisiana style food before, and our meal at Planet Hollywood inspired us to try some more local cuisine.

The decoration, however, leaves a lot to be desired. The walls were pretty bare, and there were only two movie screens that I could see. plus, the entire place was very, very bright, as opposed to the other dimly lit (and therefore cozier) Planet Hollywood's I've been to.

Over all, this Planet Hollywood was okay. Clearly, they're struggling for business. The paraphernalia is disappointing, service good, and food is great. Do I recommend it? Only if you're in town for several days-- there are a lot of better restaurants in the area. Visit the merchandise shop, though. The Mardi Gras Planet Hollywood pin is really cool.

Pros: Convenient to locate downtown     Cons: Wait line too long     We went to Chicago on a business trip in the summer of 1998. We had heard of Planet Hollywood and wanted to check it out. We were hoping to run into Michael Jordan since he was noted for dining there. We parked in the underground garage which was well-lit and secure. When we got to the restaurant's entrance, we expected the long line waiting before us. We had visited other Planet Hollywood …

Pros: Lethal Weapon Brownie; Got Meal for Free Since Service Was So Terrible     Cons: TERRIBLE Service!!! Everything was absolutely ice cold. Pros: The service     Cons: The price and food quality     Being an actress, I've been to many different Planet Hollywoods. I enjoy looking at all the different paraphenalia from all of those movies, although I've been told that a great deal of it is fake. That really is disappointing. Considering that is the reason people go to Planet Hollywood in the first place and not for the food, it's no wonder that the company has gone bankrupt.   The food …
