Given my recent infatuation with sprint triathlons, I really noticed that I needed an easy reliable way to monitor my progress and track how hard I was working. Its one thing to record time and distance but what often gets overlooked is nutrition and calorie intake vs expenditure. I have a training eating regimen that is pretty well balanced but what I struggled to gage accurately was if I was eating too much or not enough since I was only able to estimate how many calories I was burning. In comes the Polar F6 recommended to me by @Lizchiq.

I have never used a heart rate monitor before but based on what I have read some common problems are the monitors conflicting with others around them, hard to read displays, clumsy look and feel, complicated UIs, etc... To be honest I cant really find anything I dont like about my F6, the thing is awesome! Its water resistent @ 50m so you can use it in the pool (however the manual makes note to avoid pressing buttons underwater). It tracks your workouts (daily/weekly) and stores them as files, which can then be uploaded to a computer. It has differnent intensity levels called OwnZones, which are customizable heart rate ranges, that can alert you when you are too high or too low. It has a patented communication technology that enables it not to get confused with other signals. And for toppers the watch piece is stylish, sleek, and manly - prefect for working out; and the monitor band that goes around the chest is unoticeable.

I highly recommend! Then again its my first heart rate monitor so maybe Im just naive :)
