Bathing Baby with Ease with the Primo Infant Bath Seat

Pros: Lightweight, portable, secures baby, frees up hands

Cons: too big for bathroom sink

The Bottom Line: Hands free bathing... a definite must have for multiple kid families.

With my first two kiddos, I relied on baby bath tubs to be able to bathe them. I started off with a small one when they were first little then moved on to our Primo Euro tub. This one worked out great at those times. Now with three though, I found the Primo Euro to be too cumbersome for my needs. I was finding it much easier to bathe all 3 kids at the same time as this gave an incentive for the boys to stay calm in the tub. That process was killing my back trying to hold the blob of a baby in the tub while bathing all three. So I went on a search for something better and came across the Primo Bath Seat. Since I loved my other Primo so much, and the seat was only $12, I figured it was worth a shot.

The Primo Bath Seat is just, that a seat that aids in giving baby a bath. Primarily this is made to fit in a kitchen sink but it also works in a bathtub. The seat is completely molded plastic to make a reclined seat. Legs in the back keep the seat at a proper angle and suction cups hold the seat in place. The plastic comes up on the sides to cradle baby and there is a protruding piece in the front that helps keep baby in place. Baby’s feet dangle into the water slightly, which my daughter loves. A hole in the butt area of the seat allows the water to come up around baby helping with washing and keeping her warm. The seat is very lightweight and has a handle at the top - I use this to hang it up on a hook in my bathroom.

As soon as I received our Primo Seat I couldn’t wait to try it out. At the time, my daughter was 3 months old so I knew I would be getting some good use out of it. Upon placing it in the tub, I realize I have to place it on an angle since the tub is about an inch too narrow (now this could be my tub as it is a smaller model.) This actually works out fine since this way she can see the boys easily. I have found the seat works the best in about 6” of water. Anything higher than this makes her slip around too easily and anything less is too little water.

This seat has been a life saver. Not only does it allow me to securely set my baby down in the tub, but she absolutely loves it. She feels secure as well and loves flailing her arms and legs while giggling the whole time. I can now wash all three kids at the same time, while the baby is entertained and happy. I expect we will probably be able to use this until she is able to firmly sit-up, which should be another 2 or so months from now. Definitely a good investment… I just wish I had gotten it sooner.
