Re-Joining the Previously Separated Branches of the Urogenital Tree
Jun 20, 2010
For years there was a disparity between medicine and surgery: either the physician thought along the lines of action (surgery) or contemplation (medicine). And so it is with great pleasure and observation that the dichotomy between approached has art least been addressed in the field of Urology and Nephrology. RENAL AND UROLOGY NEWS is a rather new journal that manages to inform surgeon and medical physician alike. In this well designed and documented news report the urologist is updated on the newest features of the care of kidney transplant care post and pre op and the nephrologist learns about he many surrounding urological aspects that trouble the patients so often shared by both specialties. Yes, it is filled with multi-page advertisements of pharmacologic agents - but these address both disciplines equally. Controversies in legal matters as well as in the use of imaging likewise are pertinent information for both specialities and the magazine includes job availabilities in areas who need, at time, both specialties - as in regional dialysis centers. This is a welcome addition to the information dissemination that keep the physicians informed -and helps break that long lasting barrier between internists and surgeons! Grady Harp, June 10
