Fourth in the Tale of Four Wizards is Reuben, the tale of the final teen wizard, who chooses his own secret mission as the party falls apart. Reuben’s mysterious goal soon becomes clear, but the rescue he plans will be hard and finding friends in a world of enemies proves treacherous. There’s a nice balance between suspicion and trust in this tale as Reuben follows his quest. But the ending leaves readers longing for more—the story’s come full circle and the evil queen is rising to greater power. Will the wizards save the realm, or will that be left to others in a future, modern time?
Reuben is the only one of these tales that doesn't feel complete enough to standalone. I guess it left more questions unanswered, and it ends on a more obvious cliffhanger. But it's still fun and highly recommended.
The author kindly gave me ecopies of these books as she knew I'd enjoy them.

The series A Tale of the Four Wizards-Patriarchs of the Realm tells the magic and the myth of the cultures of The Realm in the Ian's Realm Saga. I think you'll find these short and easy to read stories great as stand alone fables, but if you're reading the Ian's Realm Saga they carry some subtle "gems " that weave their way into Realm!
