Own A Piece Of The Rock

Pros: Ruggedly Good Looking, Exceptionally Comfortable, Fairly Priced

Cons: Not Cheap--But Then Again--Not Cheaply Built.

The Bottom Line: Rockports are comfortable to an almost ridiculous degree. They are durable, and fairly priced as well. I have been a fan for over 30 years now.

When one is suffering form 5 bulging discs and their  lateral support muscles are literally going down the toilet , it's not long before Plantar Fasciitis rears its ugly head, as your arches, heels, and balls of your feet are working overtime just to keep you upright. The importance of wearing a shoe that is not only comfortable, but one that offers a lot of support cannot be over stated. These Rockports really fit that bill for me too.
They are more than just stylishly attractive in a dress casual sort of way. I have been familiar with the Rockport name since my days in New England. Back then they were still built in this country, and I would go to the outlet store and buy 5-6 pairs at a crack. The reason being, that I was on my feet day and night going to work and school full time. Rockports kept my feet and back alive then, and they are doing that now.
Outside of an Orthopedic Shoe, it's hard to find another shoe that has this much arch support, built in heel cups, and cushioning at the balls of your feet. That's not all though. You see, I was born with the curse of a "high instep." That makes getting a good fit pretty tough. Rockports have always made that fit feel almost custom made. The factory insoles are great, and I use them as a base for the orthopedic insoles I have to slip into my shoes.
In other shoes I usually have to rip the factory insoles out. That's because they're just flat foam padding. Sure it feels good at first, but there is no support there. You can see the thought processes that went into these Rockports. The heel cup of my insert fits into the factory heel cup. The arch support fits over as an additional arch support. The ball of feet cushioning is also molded as if they were made for each other.
Granted, these Rockports aren't exactly your Sunday Best Oxfords for dress, or your Sperry Top-Siders for sport. What they are, however, is ruggedly attractive. Though soft like the old Hush Puppy line, they are much more durably built. More along the lines of a Doc Martin. I have faith in Rockports. I've been wearing them for over 30 years now, and rue the day I ever bought anything else.

This review too Lean because I have so many nice things to say about these. It's only Mean because it lays waste to the phony claims of  comfort made by so many others.
