I love my Samsung S500, when it works. I have taken it on numerous trips without problems and I have beautiful pictures to show for it. HOWEVER, I have had a number of problems with both the batteries and the lenses. The lense had a default from the beginning and to the credit of Samsung, they fixed it almost immediately and for free when I sent it back. My other problem with the batteries wasn't resolved as well. Originally when I got my camera, I could put any type of AA battery into it without a problem. However, after a few months, I tried putting regular AA batteries into it and it would not work. When I turned it on, the lense would pop out, but then the camera would not function. I took it to a Samsung repair facility and the engineer I spoke with said that this is normal. However, the camera does work with rechargeable batteries. Its a minor hassle not being able to use regular batteries.
