The shadow is drawing late

I have always had two things that may be related, a very tough beard and a hatred of shaving.

I've never forgotten year ago when dual blade razors first came out Mad magazine came had a parody issue joking about how if two blades are good 3, 4 and five blade razors are even better. I didn't think I'd actually ever been shaving with one.So when Amazon offered the new Schick Hydro 5 razor I decided to give it a try.

It's kind of odd when you've been shaving with a disposable blade with a cheap handle to be using this razor, the feel is different, the angle is different and the shaving surface is wider than I've ever used.

When I finished shaving, really wasn't all that impressed until I looked at my face the next day. I am a guy who has a fast growing beard, 5 o'clock shadow usually comes by two. This razor cuts very close, I could see the difference on my face and my wife liked it.

That last bit, "the wife liked it" is the clincher. I don't care to shave, my wife hates the beard. If I'm going to use a razor the result has to please the reason for it. It does.

If the Schick Hydro can help an old man like me get the girl, then it is definitely worth the price

The Schick Hydro razor is great! It shaves so close, and leaves my skin so smooth and soft, and I do not have to shave as often after using this razor. It is way better than most female razor too. My husband uses it not only on his face, but also on his head. I really have not found anything else that gives such a close, smooth shave such as this one. The razor has this built in shaving cream gel that comes out while shaving, that smells so good and leaves a fantastic feeling to the skin. It is …
Quick Tip by . October 17, 2012
As its four blades (inexplicably aligned to an angle of nigh seventy-odd degrees) opened a few small yet acute wounds under my chin, the Hydro 5's "Hydrating Gel Reservoir" slathered my face with slime that emolliates it not a whit. Worse, its cumbersome design confounds skimming of my physiognomy's most constricted contours. Shick's blades are exceptionally keen, but here better aimed to incise epidermis than shave pilus, and consequently execute the latter function to mediocre results whilst inflicting …

Let's be honest. Five blades, lubricating strip, rubber fins to stretch your skin; this is all gimmickry of the worst kind. All you need is two, three blades at the most, to reduce pressure and give a reliable shave. What the heck could four blades miss that the fifth is going to get? More money, that's what. The razor companies need to make money, and the truth is that automated manufacturing has made blade prices so low that the only way they can make any money is by convincing us we need something …

Schick's "Hydro 5 Blade Razor" looked like just another gimmick razor to me. It's claims of having a gel reservoir containing Aloe Vera and Vitamin E sounded good, but I doubted its actual performance. Also, with five blades, I figured that was just overkill.    Well, I have to admit that I was quite surprised with the performance of this blade.     When I first gripped this razor, I immediately noticed its weight. It wasn't heavy, but felt like it actually …

Advanced Hydration and Comfort Features
The skin on your face is a sensitive surface that can easily dry out or become irritated by harsh shaving or an inadequate razor. With its Ultra Glide blades with Skin Guards and water-activated skin conditioners, the Schick Hydro 5 keeps your skin hydrated and smooth with each shave. The razor's Ultra Glide blades with Skin Guards provide more points of contact on the skin, creating a flatter, smoother surface to shave, resulting in a comfortable shave with less irritation.
