Another Bad Seidio Creation - The Pen Stylus

So...I'm only giving this a -3 vs -5 because it worked for a while, and because it looks nice...but overall, the pen/stylus combination from Seidio is just another example of their poor quality products.

I have a Palm Teo 800W, and since there are virtually NO accessories for this phone, I had to go to the company called Seidio for all accessories.

The first accessory I bought was the pen/stylus combo.  Upon receipt one would be rather pleased with the sleek silver body, and black contact points, with the easily removable head, revealing a relatively reliabl black ball point pen.  However, on the first go-round, the pen cap split within about a week or two, rendering the stylus pretty much useless.

I was actually impressed by Seidio at this point, because after just one phone call, I was sent out a brand new stylus that had apparently been updated in design to eliminate the splitting cap problem.
This new stylus actually worked for quite some time, probably months on end, until suddenly, I went to pull it out of the phone, and only the cap came out.  I then spent the next couple of days (on and off) trying to figure out how to get the rest of the stylus out of the phone.  I tried pliers, frantically shaking the phone...nothing worked. Finally, after giving up, I just put the cap back on, and was going to pull it off again for one final examination, and the stylus finally came out, fully assembled.  I thought, maybe this was just a fluke occurance...but little did I know...

Maybe a week or so later, I, once again, tried to pull out my pen stylus to write some thing down, and again, only the cap came off, leaving the stylus stuck in the phone.  I finally figured out that I had to take the battery compartment cover off, revealing portions of the stylus' body, and use a Staples brand (must use Stapeles specifically...Office Depot brand won't work) rubber finger to push the stylus out.

I contacted Seidio to explain my situation, and was simply told that since it was greater than 6 months since the purchase, the warranty was no longer valid, and I just had to live with it.

This just made me look over at my crappy Seidio Treo docking station and scowl.  Curses Seidio!  You have foiled me once again!  But I shall have my revenge...sweet revenge...Bad reviews on Lunch.com!

So, anyway...don't buy Seidio products.

This concludes my rant for today.  Stay tuned for my upcoming review on "Close Talkers - the modern day space invaders".

Doesn't sound like their customer service was very helpful...surprising how often this is the case. Looking forward to the close talker review; you already have a great title for it!
