Sensodyne Maximum Strength Toothpaste with fluoride has an unpleasant taste

A few months ago I tried a trial size of Sensodyne Toothpaste and was not at all happy with it. While it may work for sensitivity the taste was so disgusting I will not use it again.  I was also unable to rinse the nasty taste from my mouth and it stays for hours after using it.. Click here if you would like to read my full review on Sensodyne Toothpaste

I have been using toothpaste for sensitive teeth for quite some time, and primarily use the Tom's of Maine brand but had a coupon for Sensodyne trial size so thought I would give it a try. I learned my lesson and will stick with Toms of Maine.

Thanks for Reading!

Yeah, I don't use Sensodyne much either and I agree that it tastes icky! I only use it when my gums are feeling extra sensitive and I thought that the taste was a give and take on this toothpaste having medicinal-like qualities. Great review, Becky!

try the Toms Toothpaste for sensitive teeth it really is much better. Also I have noticed in trying the toms sensitive with and without flouride, I like the one without flouride much better. We get way too much flouride in our drinking water anyway.

That's very interesting! Is there harm in too much flouride?

I think so! Do a google search and it will scare the bejeebers out of you! For sure I know that too much causes brown spots to form on kid's teeth, I know that sounds crazy, but it is true. They are considering lowering the amount of flouride in the water because of it. I can not say if this is for sure true, but what I read was that flouride was a chemical that was byproduct of something or other that I can't recall but the government decided to use it rather than discard it by putting it in the drinking water since flouride is shown to reduce cavities. Personally I think they may have gone a little overboard with it being in the water and toothpaste and mouthwashes not to mention the dentist gives you a flouride treatment when you go. I started refusing them when I read that flouride was associated with people having low thyroid hormone. I struggle with my weight and that is all I need is low thyroid. I guess what happens is that the flouride sticks to the same receptors that would normally be using thryroid hormone and so the body gets fooled into thinking you have enough and quits making more. I am sure this can happen with other chemicals as well.... I avoid soy supplements because it has some of the same issues. Please do your own research because it has been years since I have done research on this and my memory is likely fuzzy :-) I try to avoid as many chemicals as possible since there are so many that we can not avoid If you find anything interesting out let me know Becky
