Reminds me of borrowing my Granddad's Dorothy L Sayers libary books!

Do you love Agatha Christie and Dorothy L Sayers? If so, you’ll love Donna Fletcher Crow’s delightfully English mystery set in Colorado’s heart of America. There’s romance, fashion (some old, some new), great characters, a touch of history, a touch of England and a touch of faith as well, as the protagonist tries to balance a desire for love with a desire for fictional romance, and the author balances past and present in two fascinating mysteries.

I particularly enjoyed the strong viewpoint of the main character. Everything is seen through her eyes while the reader thinks wait a minute… and maybe… longing for the best for her yet gradually fearing the worst.

The author has a pleasingly light touch with all aspects of this tale, creating a thoroughly absorbing sense of time(s) and place, and somehow keeping a huge cast of characters and players all delightfully instantly recognizable. The celebration starts with a murder (or was it accident?) played out on stage, and the weekend starts with mystery. Delicious meals are shared in intricate period costumes while diners discuss their opinions of the case. Meanwhile the protagonist’s conflicting emotions play out through wonderful external and internal dialog.
I’d not read anything of Donna Fletcher Crow’s before this, but I think I might be hooked. And yes, I do love Agatha Christie and Dorothy L Sayers.

Disclosure: I met the author on facebook and can’t remember how I acquired the book.
