Best bang for your buck is a total understatement

My very trusty set of Ink'd earbuds finally gave out after nearly three years of use.  That's three years of plane and train rides, workouts, runs and not to mention being tugged and pulled in my purse and gym bag.  I take really good care of most of the things that I own, but these earbuds... I can pretty confidently say that I did not.  At $20, they're pretty inexpensive and when I'm hurriedly tugging on them to get out of my bag or to stuff back into my bag after a run or right before I get off a train, it's just not something that I really think about.

Considering how much I've tugged on them, I'm really amazed at how long they've lasted.  Mine are technically still usable, but sound only comes out of one side and the other is muffled.  This very randomly happened to me in the middle of a run on a treadmill.

Yup, my Ink'd earbuds broke on me, but I'm totally ready to buy another pair.  Why?  Well, let me count the ways...

Build Quality -- Though they're inexpensive, they're really good quality.  They definitely did not skimp on anything from the earbud to the sturdy cable.  They even come with a couple of pairs of replacement silicon gel earbud sleeves.

Design -- Their designs are fantastic.  They're so pretty to look at and I want them all!  Their little skull logo looks really cool and their products are available in a wide combination of colors.  They've even teamed up with other designers, like Paul Frank, for some special releases.

Sound Quality -- The sound is clear and crisp along with great bass and volume.

Sound Isolation -- With the proper fit, they block out environmental noises really, really well.

Fit -- These are the best fitting earbuds I've ever had and it's due in part to the fact that each set of Ink'd earbuds come with three different sizes of silicon gel earbud sleeves.  They come with the standard medium one attached, but my ears are small, so I use the small ones.  Having a great fitting pair of earbuds does wonders -- they're comfortable, the sound quality becomes far superior, and the earbuds are actually functional.

Functionality -- My test for earbud functionality -- being able to run with them without them popping out of my ear, and I've experienced that a lot with many earbuds.  With Ink'd earbuds, I can run on the treadmill or outdoors and do pretty much any exercise with them on without the hassle and annoyance of them popping out of my ear.

Straight Plug Shape -- This is just my preference, but I like that the plugin is straight instead of an L-shape.  It just works better for where I'm used to placing my iPhone when working out.

Durability -- I think I've covered this part pretty well ;)

Now that my hot pink/white ones have been forced into retirement, I'm getting a new set of hot pink/black ones.  Heck, I should get several of them so I don't have to keep switching them between bags.

For $20/pair earbuds, it really doesn't get any better than these.
Best bang for your buck is a total understatement

This sounds like a good deal. I recently got a pair of earbuds through the Amazon Vine program that retail for about $40 but yours seem to do everything they do for a lot less. The one thing that I really like about mine is that they are very good about not getting tangled. The cheaper pairs seem to always end up knotted like messy spagetti for me.

Great review, very thorough and well thought out. I remember you commented on a review I made of some 'buds recently and I'm glad you were able to find a set you are happy with that are even less expensive!

Thanks, Kort! I work out almost every day and thus use these pretty much every day, so I freaked out when these broke and had to replace them right away. Easiest solution at the moment: just buy another pair :P Yup, these are highly recommended!

No one told me that getting an iPod Nano for Christmas would teach me so much, but I quickly realized that I have very tender (and small) ear canals, which meant that bad music wasn't going to be the only thing hurting my ears. The size and shape of the proprietary iPod earbuds stretched them out too far, and it wouldn't take much more than 15 minutes before I would have to rip them out and take a break from listening.    Then I found Skullcandy, and I was introduced to a world …

About this product

Ink adds permanence. It forces the visual representation of an idea, concept, ideal or experience, and tangibly commemorates it. Like a tattoo, graffiti, or stretch marks. Until you're really ready to commit, go with the INK'D ear buds. Big sound, little price, no visible scarring.
