Just what we needed around here, another light saber! I have four sons that love Star Wars, and being boys that also means they love weapons (toy weapons) so I had to get this spinning light saber for them. And they really like it.
The light saber is a three piece unit that can be used as two separate swords or screwed into the spinning handle for a light saber that spins. Since they are light sabers they do light up, otherwise they would not be "light" sabers? They are pretty cool in the dark. My 4 year old likes to spin them in the dark, and I must admit it is pretty impressive. I can see why they have fun with them.
The sound effects are very good. Screwing the light sabers to the handle does not require any tools to screw or unscrew them in or out. It is so easy my 4 year old can do it. But then again being my son, he is very advanced ;)
There is only one warning I would give for these toys. make sure they have enough room to spin before you let the kids go wild. One of my sons invented a technique for spinning the light sabers above his head horizontally while he runs around the room. Turns out that put the light sabers at exactly the same height as the ledge dividing the kitchen and dining room where I charge my Blackberry. Luckily I was standing right there and time slowed down like it does in "The Matrix", and I was able to dive across the room just in time to catch my Blackberry as it was launched off the ledge by a well timed light saber blow. I guess I was just lucky because I checked the box and "slowing down time like in The Matrix" does not come included with this toy.
Okay, I started my Vine testing by playing with this thing myself. (Imagine the kids surprise when I crept downstairs and started whirling my blades... swoosh... zwiir... lots of giggling) Then I handed it over to my 8 yo son and our next door neighbor (5) to play with. . DESCRIPTION::: Three pieces. Two light-sabers of different colors and a center piece that has a ratcheting mechanism that allows the blades to circle your hand with a free spinning motion. … more
