If You Have The Time and Patience, This is the Product For You.

Have you ever wondered if the seed that you throw in your yard really works, or is it the fact that you finally spent some time to cultivate the beneath that bad spot of grass did the trick. This Scotts PatchMaster can be found at just about any home improvement or hardware store in your neighborhood. This usually comes in a five pound package, but you can also purchase them in a pack of eight and save a lot of money. The individual bag will cost right around 12 dollars plus tax, and the pack of eight will cost you around 65 dollars plus tax. But, I am glad that I purchased one set of eight, because I had a lot of ground to cover, because of my dogs and the other wild life that like to dig for grubs and tear up my yard. At this price, it can be a little bit on the expensive side, so you want to make sure that you do not have any of this stuff left over, to sit in your garage and collect dust.

This comes in individual bags of five pounds each, and each of these bags will cover 100 square feet, (that is just about a 10’ x 10’ area), so if you have a bigger area, then of course you will need more of these bags. When you open the bag, the contents will look like the inside stuffing of an old couch or a large mixture of paper mulch. This will also not spread like regular grass seed, it kind of stays together. This is green in color and feels like a material of sorts. There also different kinds of colored specks inside of this mix. When you are applying you might wand to wear some kind of gloves, rubber or cloth it won’t matter, because this stuff will turn your hands and fingers green. This will wash off but you have to really scrub your hands but eventually it will all come off. Everything that you will need to do a repair on your lawn is in this one bag. This bag has a set of measured ingredients and is ready to grow.

There are a lot of different types of stuff that go into the making of this PatchMaster and they are 90.13% of Inert Matter, 70% of Mulch, 20% of fertilizer, 0.01% of other crop seed, and 0 % of any weeds.

Guaranteed Analysis
This is a 3-4-1 mixture, which means, 3% total Nitrogen (0.7% of ammonlacal nitrogen, 1.2% of urea nitrogen, 1.0% of other water soluble nitrogen, 0.1% of water insoluble nitrogen), 4% of available phosphate (P2 05), and 1% of soluble potash (K20) which is gotten from monommomium phosphate, urea, methylene ureas, murlate of potash.

Scotts has a not quibble guarantee on this product, and that means if for some unknown reason that you are not happy with the results of this product all you have to do is send them proof of purchase and they will be glad to send you a refund check.

This product is basically easy to use; all you have to do is rake the affected bare area with a hard rake or hand tool. Then making sure that you have went at least three inches deep, then just apply this mulch to said area by spreading with your hand. You can use the rake to do spread this, but the mulch may come apart instead of staying together. That is why I use my hand to spread this over the affect area. Make sure that you do not put more than a ½” thick layer over this area. Once you have spread this over the affected area water thoroughly several times throughout the first several days, especially if it is in a sunny area that only gets a little bit of shade. The sun will only cause this area to dry out quickly, it is very important that this area be kept moist.

After you have done all of this, the hard part is waiting. I waited and watered everyday, and watched, but nothing happened. Even after the allotted 7 to 14 days that they advertised that this should work in. But, I still persisted in watering for several months and yet the areas showed very little improvement. Yes, I did see some new grass within the first month, but not what I was expecting. What I was expecting was within two weeks to see a plush green lawn over all of the bare spots.

Now, it is in the middle of winter and I finally did notice a difference, the places where I where I have repaired is greener than the rest of my lawn, and it also looks a lot better than my neighbors’ lawns. I did not know that it was going to take more than six months to see final results. Granted, it may have taken a while to get results, but I can see it now.

I was not happy at the time that I started using this stuff, because it did not do the job in the time that they said it would take. I could have just ripped up my lawn, and laid some new sod in the time that it took the new patch repair to take. But, I guess that then end result is what counts and that is that the area that I had repaired is now very green and growing grass. I can give this five stars for the end results, but only two stars because, though it did work it took a very long time to get the final results.
