Cons: Not really that effective in boosting energy
The Bottom Line: If you want to lose weight, get serious about it and exercise, pills such as this just aren't that effective.
I have been an active duty Air Force Unit Fitness Program Manager for quite some time now. During that time, I have been through numerous classes on a variety of different aspects of health, from smoking, to weight loss, to fad diets, to circuit/weight training, and virtually every other topic you could imagine.
As a UFPM, I am directly responsible for the management of the health and fitness for upwards of 800 personnel at any given period of time. This means that I administer all fitness testing, I counsel those that are having weight issues, and I aid in training those that desire the added assistance in obtaining muscle mass, losing weight, or whatever their goals are. Essentially, I am a personal trainer for the military.
This job of course is much different in the military however, than it would be in the civilian world. In the military world, we have to have a certain weight, and meet specific standards, whereas civilians are guided by their own desires. This means that in order for personnel to keep their jobs, I have to be on top of all of the best supplements, training guides, equipment, and methods of training that will yield the best results for each individual user's goals.
Throughout my time as a UFPM, I have tried so many different products myself, read about a large number of products, attended classes, and seen the direct results of members that have used these products. I know what works, what doesn't work, and what you have to do to make these products work.
Twinlab Diet Fuel Diet Fuel has long been one of the products that many of those on my weight management programs utilize in an attempt to blow away as many pounds as possible prior to fitness testing.
As a product, it is intended to curb hunger so that you don't have the desire to eat all of the time. The product also contains a variety of other ingredients that are meant to aid in digestion of food, as well as increased overall diet health.
Performance The main purpose of the product is to give you more energy while you are on a diet as well as controlling hunger. What I have found from my own personal testing and from talking to other members that have used the product is that it really doesn't give you much energy at all. I think realistically the product has more of a placebo affect in regards to energy boosting. I think if you believe in the product enough it will give you energy, but in reality it's not doing anything for you.
As for the control of food cravings, I didn't notice much of a difference. I still had the cravings, they weren't as strong, but the reality is that if your body is telling you that you are hungry, you probably should give it nutrition. This isn't the best method of losing weight by any means. By trying to control your weight by controlling hunger, you are fighting a losing battle. The best bet is to eat 5-6 times per day, without overeating. Keep those foods that are good for you close to you, so they are the most convenient snack. If you have carrots nearby, you are more likely to eat those, because they ear close, than you are to get up and make a junk food snack. That's just the reality of human nature. However, if you don't like carrots, this method isn't going to work, so use what you like to supplement your snack cravings. Personally, I have found that taking fiber will curb your hunger far better than anything else, as a little bit of fiber expands in your stomach substantially while only adding minimal calories. The other benefit is that you will have substantially better digestive health as well, allowing for much more efficient removal of waste from the body.
As for the other ingredients in the product, I noticed no difference taking than product or not taking the product. I have had several others that have reported the same. The only difference that I have noticed is that some people tend to believe that it gives them more energy, while others think the statements are crap. I have found that those that say it will give more energy are the ones that are severely overweight. I have found they also give better reviews of most weightloss products. However, they are still overweight, and they continue to use the product, with few noticeable results. I think this just shows they are using the product as a substitute for regular exercise and this just isn't an effective means of losing weight.
Taking the Pills These pills are pretty massive and I am pretty good at taking pills, as I take many supplements on a regular basis. However, these are so large that I had to use almost a half bottle of water just to get them down. I would highly recommend breaking the pills in half in order to swallow them. It will make it much easier to continuously take them if you do this.
