When you train a lot, you can burn anywhere from 500 - 5000 more calories per day than most people. The fact is you need to eat - a lot and often - and you end up trying to find the best "calories for your buck" places. Ideally you get 25-50 grams of protein, maybe 25 grams of carbs and a nominal amount of fat for $10-$15. Some examples of places that give you a return somewhere in this range are Wahoo's Fish Tacos, Baja Fresh, Subway, etc. Those "tweener" restaurants that aren't quite fast food, aren't quite sit down. To fall into this category, I look for places that are less than 30 minutes, door to door, less than $15 and that offer a meal that is calorie dense, but due to protein content, not fat. The best restaurant I have found of this type is California Chicken Cafe.

There are 7 California Chicken Cafe locations (www.californiachickencafe.com) location in the greater Los Angeles area. From the time you order to the time you finish eating, you are looking at +/- 30 minutes. My typical order is 1/4 chicken (all white meat), side salad with low calorie ranch, rice and 2 pieces of pita bread. Total price is $8.75.

For the money and time expenditure, I have yet to find a better place to eat. At the height of Ironman training, I used to find myself there twice per day sometimes. It is just good, clean food at a good, clean price. Highly recommended.

Sounds tasty! For someone who's looking to eat something quick and healthy, I think you'd really like Tender Greens, too, it's in Culver City. CCC sounds like it's worth a try, too. Thanks for sharing, Brian! :)
