Can you say 'Chicken Soft Tacos'?

I love Del Taco! I don't know what it is, but there's something about serving fries with "Mexican" food (note the quotation marks' sarcasm) that makes for a heavenly experience. Our local Del Taco knows my sister and me so well that they often throw in an extra drink for us for free!

I've got many favorites here, too many to list out, to be honest. But the following rank among my absolute musts whenever I visit:
  • Chicken Soft Tacos: These small tacos feature grilled chicken bits, lettuce, grated cheese, and their special sauce. It's near ambrosia! They're usually under a buck, and two or three are enough to fill you up if coupled with some fries. I almost always order the combo, which includes two of them, a drink, and medium fries. (293 calories each)
  • Del Classic Chicken Burrito: This one packs in all the same ingredients as a Chicken Soft Taco, but in a larger form. Perfect as a quick bite if you're rushed or if you're driving and need to eat while behind the wheel. (560 calories each)
  • Deluxe Chili Cheese Fries: No combo or trip to Del Taco would be complete with their fries, topped with chili, onions, cheese, and sour cream. Plus, upgrading your combo to include these fries will cost you just about a buck, far cheaper than upgrading combos at many other fast food restaurants. (710 calories each)
For most people, the last item could be a meal in itself, but not for me. Top 'em off with some Del Scorcho or Del Inferno sauce and then you're talking!

My favorite Del Taco experiences came one year when I took summer school course in the evenings. Our professor only gave us a 10 minute break during a 4 hour evening lecture. How horrible, you might say. Think again! Right next door was a Del Taco that saved my summer. Its chicken soft tacos kept me going, and yes, I even got an 'A' in the course.

So you see, Del Taco is more than just a typical fast food chain. It's brain food, too!

I'm a little ashamed to admit how much I used to visit Del Taco and the quantity of food I wood consume there. TO be fair, it was only 3 blocks from my apartment and I was BROKE. Thursday night Del Taco was the pinnacle of me week. Yes, yes, Del Taco is way way better than Taco Bell. I could eat their bean & cheese burritos for every meal and die happy 3 days later...

Del Taco is any starving student's best friend. The only problem with your review is the title. Del Taco surpassed Taco Bell when Taco Bell discontinued the Chilito (aka - Chili Cheese Burrito.) Glad to meet another "Mexican Food Aficionado" :-)

The "Veggie Works" burritos are so very good...I'm not a vegetarian so that's saying a lot. For a fast food restuarant Del Taco does a pretty good job at updating and changing their menu to include new and interesting items regularly.

Doing the marine crawl to the bathroom.
My old boss always gave me flack for going to Taco Johns  claiming it was "ghetto".  If Taco Johns is ghetto, then DelTaco is Detroit.  Not quite a warzone but not for the faint of heart.      Sporting a "taco tuesday" similar ot TJ, I had some high hopes going into my first Del Taco, but the brick a brak coloring all over the restaraunt with big colorful chairs made me feel I was sitting in a kids restaraunt.  Many of the boothes looked …

I keep mentioning this in many of my reviews, but it's really affected how I eat:  I'm a native of Southern California, living in Austin, Texas.  No Del Tacos here in Texas, much to my chagrin.    I miss having the option of going to Del Taco to grab a couple tacos, an incredibly tasty chicken quesadilla and a burger/fries.  There's nothin' like a Del Taco run after a night out drinking beer with your buddies (don't worry, your cab driver will drive you through …

I didn't eat at Del Taco until I was 20 years old. I believe the main reason for this is that I didn't smoke pot in high school*. You heard me. Del Taco is pothead food. Why? Because it's the only fast food open in the middle of the night and it's greasy and satisfying. Seriously- I imagine there's nothing better for the muchies. Potheads- am I right?    (This theory might also stem from the fact that I was finally introduced to Del Taco by my pothead ex-boyfriend. Maybe …

About this restaurant

Wiki

Del Taco, a competitor of Taco Bell, is a chain of Mexican-inspired fast food restaurants headquartered in Lake Forest, CA. In addition to serving Mexican-style foods, the menu includes burgers, fries, shakes, and other American fares. The company was founded in Yermo, CA and is currently owned by Sagittarius Brands. Like its competitor Taco Bell, Del Taco's menu features items that often stray from traditional Mexican ingredients and foods. Nonetheless, the company has done well, having opened 500 stores by 2008 in over 10 states.
