Ate lunch here for the first time with co-workers on St. Patty's Day! We drove right in front and, purely from the decibel level, it was clearly the place to be for lunch, not that 3/17 had anything to do with it, =P.

Great crowd, not too rambunctious (especially for being on the holiday), and very friendly staff. The atmosphere is undoubtedly a fun one and I would love to come back with my friends for drinks at night. I haven't eaten at many places where there is open seating, but I generally don't enjoy having to wait around, eyeing tables to gauge how long it'll be, if at all, 'til we get one. Nevertheless, even on this particularly busy day, we fortunately got a table within 10 minutes. I ordered the famous giant burger, which was pretty good. The kettle chips were good, too, and I liked that the portions weren't outrageously generous either.

All in all, the service and quality of food is satisfactory and Hennessey's gets a big plus for having a fun atmosphere. Personally, it would be nice to see a cut back on the overtly sexualized female staff appearance (because the world could certainly do without all that nonsense), but besides that, this is a great place for the Manhattan Beach local!

Great local pub and a good place to grab late night food or weekend mimosa brunch. Patio is super cute with a cozy fireplace. Its also steps to the ocean. :)

About this restaurant

About Us

In an industry where more than two-thirds of the new entrants fail within the first year and a geographic market that is recognized as a hotbed of competition, the Southern Californian restaurants, Hennessey's, have proven to be a resounding success - demonstrating atypical longevity and prosperity.

Since being founded in 1976 by Paul Hennessey, an entrepreneurial former Wall Street stock trader, Hennessey's Tavern, Inc. has grown from a single About Uslocation in Hermosa Beach, Calif. into a diversified group spread throughout Southern California that today includes: 10 Hennessey's Tavern and H.T Grill operations, as well as the renowned Lighthouse Cafe jazz club and The Fish Bucket - a casual "beachy" concept.

The company's sales have risen rapidly, as well, since its early days. Hennessey's Tavern, Inc. boasted total revenues for 2005 of approximately 30 million dollars.

Mr. Hennessey credits the company's success to the fact that it has found a market niche and not deviated from it, even as Hennessey's Tavern, Inc. has continued to expand. He said he believes his dining and drinking establishments emphasize good food and ambience, but shun the flash-in-the-pan trends and gimmicks that are common among his competitiors. The final product, Mr Hennessey believes, is the traditional cozy or clubby feel indigenous to Irish or English pubs.

"I saw the need for nice gathering places with relaxing environments," Mr. Hennessey, ...
