So my friends wanted to eat at Kabuki, which is like the Sushi Roku on a super budget. Anyhow, we end up going to the one at Howard Hughes, which is always packed.
Besides waiting for 30 minutes to eat, outside in the cold where there is no heat lamp, it wasn't that bad. There were a lot of people waiting also.
After we were seated, being that we have been here a million times we quickly ordered iced green tea. Their iced green green tea is the bomb. We always start with seaweed salad, mean besides Sushi Roku, this is the best seaweed salad I have hsd here at a "budget" sushi restaurant in LA. Tangy and good. just enough, hmmm, I kind of want another bowl. They bring you edaname for free and as you stuff yourself with a salad and edaname you have to figure out what sushi you want to order. Anyhow, I usually order unagi, which is subpar. The sauce is not perfect and it is usally cold, put all in all it is good eel. Now, the rainbow roll is very good, and fish tastes fresh. I love the spider roll. Just the amount of crunch and the sauce for it is perfect.
These are my basics. I don't see a point of going to a sushi restaurant if you are not going to eat sushi. Kabuki is a great place to eat pretty decent sushi for the times we are having. I never really have room for dessert. The bill is always just right!
http://www.kabukirestaurants.com/ not a lot of time on hand, ut good point. here is a link to the locations in southern cali. there is more than one. thank you for the comments, i appreciate it. i'll try to put in wiki tomorrow.
I can dig a budget sushi place. Plus complimentary edamame is always a bonus! And ditto on what @HostessTori said; it would be awesome if you could share the address of this place with us in the wiki section of this page because we'd love to check out Kabuki, too! :)
Fitting review considering many people are cutting back. Having a cheaper alternative place to eat sushi is a plus. Perhaps you could add the address of the restaurant in the wiki section to give folks a bit more info about it.
I am a fun girl who loves museums, food, music, dancing, pop songs, dancing to pop songs, dacing to pop song while in the shower, dancing to pop songs while in the shower then eating. lol I'm alittle … more
The Kabuki I ate at was the one at the Howard Hughes Center - 6081 Center Drive #203, Los Angeles, 90045. But here is a link to the other chains in southern Cali below.
