I just finished a take-out meal from Mr. Cecil's in Manhattan Beach. I do not believe in reviewing a restaurant based on take-out, but I have eaten in the restaurant too so feel qualified to render an opinion. I ordered the baby back ribs, fries and baked beans. The ribs were good. They were not great. If an item is in the name of your restaurant, I would expect that item to be the best around. Pie and Burger in Pasadena has unbelievable pie and burgers for instance. I have the same complaint about jody Maroni's Sausage kingdom...not the best sausages I have ever had (and the buns are too think). Unfortunately, I do not think Mr. Cecil's ribs deliver for a supposed signature dish. I would place them beneath the ribs at Houston's and at Rock'n Fish. The fries were very good and the beans below average. It was still a good meal, but I do not feel the urge to go back soon.

Mr. Cecil’s California Ribs is a unique Los Angeles ribs restaurant. Chef Jonathan Burrows takes western American barbeque, adds a slight Asian influence, then infuses California freshness and the highest quality ingredients - like organic chicken and vegetables - along with a menu that includes several kinds of fish and salads.
