My favorite part of living in Los Angeles is the amazing vegan cuisine (I'm not even vegan). One of the very best places I have been to so far is Real Food Daily. Although I frequent the one in West Hollywood, there is a location in Santa Monica as well.
As is true with many vegan restaurants, the substitutes here taste better than the real deal! Also, unlike many vegan restaurants that use strange "chickn" and "fake-on", Real Food Daily relies on flavor over texture/looks. So even though your tempeh bacon may not look like real bacon, it's seasoned to taste EXACTLY like bacon.
The only problem I've run into at Real Food Daily is the VASTNESS of their menu! Every time I go I take at least 20 minutes to decide what I want. They have eveything - monthly/weekly specials (always are amazing), salads, sandwiches, soups, rice/grains bowls, organic beer, freshly squeezed juices, and sumptuous desserts. However - if its your first time you HAVE to get the Real Food Meal:
It's the dish on the left. It comes with brown rice, cabbage salad, veggies (plus sea veggies!), seaweed, and beans that are the current Special (these look like pink beans?) And it all comes with your choice of an amazing sauce to douse it with - I've gotten the ranch and gravy and both are A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. (FYI the meal on the right is their vegan TV dinner with gravy!)

Other things I recommend include: any of the desserts, all of the beers (organic beer never makes me dehydrated/feel terrible in the morning like most alcohol does), the fettucine with meatballs, and the cornbread with carrot-cashew butter. Actually, I don't think you'll dislike anything you order.
After I eat at RFD I feel GOOD. Full of energy and totally satisfied.
