A French teacher of mine once said, "Don't eat seafood in months that don't have the letter 'r'." Well, the same expression works in English, too. But let's just say the expression should also say, "And don't eat seafood at restaurants that start with 'Red' and end in 'Lobster'."

I have heard of countless friends of mine getting sick from eating seafood here. It's just not that fresh, and many of their locations receive substandard ratings from county health departments. I go now and then with anyone who insists on eating there, but personally, I'll order non-seafood items like burgers or salads.

I understand that in America, anything is possible, and that it might very well be possible to transport fresh seafood to any inland Red Lobster location in just a day or two. SO obviously, there is something else going on inside their kitchens. Nonetheless, they seem to be doing well if they've got over 600 locations!

But it's just not for me; I'd rather eat seafood when I'm at or near the ocean and can literally see my food swimming freely just minutes before being cooked. (No, I don't enjoy seeing non-seafood animals doing the same right before they end up on my plate. Completely different set of standards for them.)

Nice review. I agree with you; I'm not a fan of their restaurant. There is nothing there for vegetarians, which sucks when everyone in my family eats meat except for me!

Yeah, you're right about the freshness of the seafood. It tastes frozen. Seafood is usually supposed to be pretty light on the stomach, but I always leave Red Lobster feeling like I just ingested a gut bomb. I don't really eat that much there. I will say that their hushpuppies, however, are fantastic — even if they do have that synthetic taste to them.

There are two, and only two reasons that I go to Red Lobster - The Cheddar Bay Biscuits and the Calamari & Vegetables.
