Great place for fish tacos and drinks before the races in Del Mar

The Brigantine is a restaurant and bar in Del Mar California. It is located above the racetrack "where the surf meets the turf." The huge balcony has an amazing view of the ocean and the racetrack. When the horses are running there is great energy in the bar and the balcony. I don't see a reason to hit the Brigantine to sit in the dining room for a formal dinner, but the happy hour is a great scene with solid fish tacos, seafood appetizers, assorted mojitos and martinis and several beer choices on draft. Definitely a great way to start the evening or finish off the afternoon.

The Brig - a big part of the Del Mar experience

I love the Brigantine. Whether we stop in for some fish tacos and drinks before or after the races, its a necessary part of the full Del Mar experience. In fact, every time I've been to the track and not made it to the Brigantine, I feel like something's missing. Enjoy some fish tacos at happy hour and take in a race through the telescopes on the deck. If you don't miss the dark wood and nautical theme the minute you leave... you may have no soul.
