The Counter- Leave with an empty wallet and an empty tummy

Ok someone seriously needs to explain to me what I am missing. Since when is paying almost $10 for a burger a good thing? I tried the counter last night for the first time because I had heard it was "the burger joint" to try. I cracked up when I looked at the clipboard because I couldn't believe how pretty much anything worth adding to a burger was $1.00 more than the already $7.95 you were paying for a small burger. Before I move on, let me define the counter's idea of small....its really small people!!!

I have been to so many hole in the wall burger joints where the meat is fresh, it comes with all the fixings and you only add the random extras. Since when should I have to pay for lettuce!! Not to mention a small burger is usually large enough that when it arrives you wonder, how big is their big burger?

When the burgers arrived I thought to myself this better blow my socks off and ....it did not at all. I have had way better for a lot cheaper. The hamburger was small over cooked and by the time we were done ordering two regluar hambugers a couple sodas and some french fries it was over $30! I am  not going to say it was horrible, but next time I get a burger craving, i will be saving the money in my wallet. In this economy, there are a lot more places you can get more for less!

Ercoles, best burger in town. I know that certain people think I lose credibility because 5 years ago I said I had a good meal at Beaches, but when you fall into a chance to start your weekend on Friday at lunchtime and are feeling it, hit Erc's. Not fancy, but they get their grinded beef from the MB Meat Market next door and that right there is enough said.

the price and value is a valid concern for sure. I still think the best burger for the price is at In-N-Out. Actually... i don't even get the burger at the Counter... i get the chicken salad... kind of weak for a burger joint right? I'd love to hear more about some of those hole in the wall places that rock the tasty burger.

Really?!? Wow...I had heard great things about The Counter. @jrjohnson was so so on the chili and @drogoff liked the extras, maybe because we live in LA LOL. But, $30...NO WAY! You should go to The Habit- if they have them up there, much better deal and burgers for way cheaper...I might have to do a review on that LOL.

This review is just focusing on the chili at the Counter.      I've tried both the regular chili and the turkey chili.    Regular Chili: This is very meaty which normally you would think is a good thing.  Really the only thing in it besides meat is some stewed tomatoes.  I really prefer more to my chili like... hmmmm.... i don't know... beans?!?!  or something.  This chili is actually really good on (and probably designed for) french …

A lot has been written about the ability to customize your burger at The Counter. For some reason, however, I have received more satisfaction applying customization to their Chicken sandwich. To start, the Chicken is a delicious piece of white meat that has been well cooked each time (too often chicken breasts are overcooked and dried out as a result).
