Ice cream called "Kanye West Platinum"? Really?

Although I am now a happy [Los] Angeleno, the past was not so warm and sunny: I used to live in Boston. As a whole, Boston is VERY small and not as eclectic as other cities tend to be. So I was delighted when a vegan ice cream shop opened up downtown.

Wheeler's makes their flavors with soy, coconut, rice or almond milk. I like that they don't just stick with soy milk like most vegan ice cream places.

And it shows - the flavors are AMAZING. Just check out the web site - they have everything from Mexican Chocolate to fruity sorbets. And for all you cocktail lovers out there - they have alcohol inspired flavors like Vanilla Kentucky Bourbon, Rum Raisin, and Mojito! These cost a little extra because of the obvious alcohol content (They don't get you drunk though, I checked ;P )

The flavors change up often so you don't get sick of them if you're a die-hard fan. My favorites were Cherries Jubliee (a vanilla with HUGE chunks of real cherries) and Peanut Butter and Jelly. PB&J? Ice Cream? SO SOLD!

The only qualms I have with Wheelers is that they tend to keep odd hours. Whenever I went there, they were always mysteriously closed (despite the hours being displayed predominantly, everywhere) or had a "be back in 5 minutes" sign. The biggest let down ever for something so delicious.

I heard Wheeler's is looking into opening a Los Angeles location, which makes me unbelievably happy. Even though I am loyal to Scoops, I can always use a few more "healthy" junk food places in the area!

Sounds heavenly! That Cherries Jubilee is right up my alley. I'm not that far away from this place so I will definitely keep this one in mind.

I'm interested in those alcohol inspired flavors, esp. Mojito! Have you tried it?

Hi Melissa, Too bad I am on a diet because I love icecream. I hope that I do not get an urge but my will power is always in jeapordy. Nice job and looks tasty.

Mmmmm, alcohol-inspired ice cream.  The best of both worlds without getting drunk!  This sounds like my kind of place :)  Have you tried Kanye West Platinum yet?  I wonder what's in it and how it tastes!
