Great food & atmosphere, but I prefer street dogs more.

After hearing about this place over and over again, I finally had to check it out and see for myself what about this 'hot dog' joint everybody was talking about. I mean, everybody has been telling me about it. Even vegetarians are raving about how great their food is! The menu offers hot dogs in three different groups: classic, gourmet, and exotic.  While classic entailed your normal hot dog and sausages, gourmet takes it a step up with some fancy marinates and nice quality meats. Exotic is where I really came to play though. Rumors of rabbit, rattlesnake and veal being options was very intriguing to me and I had to taste for myself.

The menu reminds me of The Counter, a higher end burger joint that has endless options of what you can get on your burger. This place does the same for hot dogs. So many different kinds of meats, and very intrinsic sauces you can order for your fries. I ended up getting the rabbit and veal marinated in white wine. I could not wait for my taste buds to be blown away!

The food is great, and the fries are the BEST. It is a bit pricey though if you're looking to play on the exotic side of their menu. For a belgium soda, side of fries and my exotic bunny-dog - I dropped $20 like nothing! I'd say it was worth it, though. I wasn't disappointed. The place is different and unique, and for a once in a while whirl in downtown, it's a nice place to spend with friends.

I don't know if I can see myself as a regular at this spot, though. I'd honestly admit with no shame that street dogs or even the hot dogs at Costco do me right. Maybe I'm just not a fancy hot-dog kind of guy. Either way, the atmosphere is nice and it's perfect for big groups of people.

By the way, how do you pronounce this place again? Nobody ever seems to know.
Great food & atmosphere, but I prefer street dogs more.

Talk about a Sausage Fest!
Where are all the hipsters flocking to downtown to get their new gourmet hot dog fix? That would be Wurstküche, a gastropub on 3rd St, DT, LA.     Exotic sausages, Belgian fries, and beer. That’s all they got here, plus some imported soda and a dessert special. But that’s all they need. Because they have 21 different types of sausages. And 4 different toppings to go on those sausages. And 5 different mustards to squirt on those sausages. That is an amazing number …
