Pleasant surprise this past season.... watch out in '09

I've been a Longhorn fan since the mid-90's, when I was "forced" to pick a college football team to follow, as the college I attended did not have a football team. I opted to root for the Longhorns (not sure why, really) over the UCLA Bruins (I was at a UC school, and from the LA area). Coincidentally, I now live in Austin, TX.
The Horns had a very surprising season in '08. It was supposed to be somewhat of a rebuilding season, with Jamal Charles, their stud RB, opting to enter the NFL draft. Armed with a RB-by-committee and spread offense, the Horns were led by Heisman hopeful Colt McCoy, and an under-rated WR pair in Quan Cosby and Jordan Shipley.
Cosby brought tons of experience (he's in his mid-20's, returning to UT after trying minor league baseball) and consistency. Shipley, also a veteran, came in and was a terrific possession receiver and will likely be playing on Sundays after next season. He was awarded another year's eligibility to play with best friend Colt McCoy. Their WR staff will likely be led by young Malcolm Williams, and expect Brandon Collins to figure into the mix too.
The RB situation could be less cloudy, although they will miss do-everything Chris Ogbannaya. Fozzy Whitaker will likely take the bulk of the carries, especially if he can remain healthy.
But the centerpiece of the team will be the leadership and creativity of QB Colt McCoy. He and the aggressive defense will be the keys to the Longhorns remaining in the BCS hunt next season. The defense did lose many key players, but should reload.
