The University of Texas Longhorns

The Eyes of Texas are Upon You. I might be biased in saying that UT is the best school ever, but its also the school I attend, so I am allowed to be biased. Living in Austin as a Longhorn brings a sense of pride like nothing I have ever experienced before. If you have ever been to a UT home football game, you know exactly what I am talking about. People will literally give you death stares if you dont have on burnt orange. The first time I went, I was overwhelmed with seeing a sea of burnt orange and white, and I was so excited the first time I heard, "Give 'em Hell, Give 'em Hell, Make 'em Eat Shit!" One of our other chants is, "TEXASSSSS! FIGHTTTTTT! (repeat approx. 4 times) OUUUUUUUUUU SUCKKKKKKS!" (This occurs even if we are not playing OU, they are just our biggest rival) One half of the stadium yells Texas Fight! and the other yells OU Sucks! I havent even mentioned the tailgates.... there are thousands, or thats what it seems like, ALL over campus! Free beer (usually just for the ladies), good BBQ, what could be better? Not to mention people usually sneak in flasks because unfortunately, UT doesn't allow drinking at the stadium. This also just entices the fans to start tailgating super early in order to be super drunk for the games. Hey, did I mention we made it to the National Championship this year? We might not have won, but we still made it....

Only theUniversity of Michigan has won more games and a greater percentage of games played than Texas,[13] which recorded its 800th victory with the Longhorns' 41-38 win over the USC Trojans in the 2006 BCS National Championship Game at the Rose Bowl. During the late 1980s and early 1990s, the program was somewhat less successful, but the Longhorns have since returned to prominence in college football, finishing in the top six of the AP and coaches' polls in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2008.

The University of Texas team plays home games in Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium which has a seating capacity of 100,119.[14]Renovations began on the stadium November 14, 2005, two days following the last home football game of the 2005 ...
