A Quick Tip by RabidChihuahua

Uuuuuuggghhh.   I spent a month watching this series back in late 2004, and even when I was 17 years-old, I wondered to myself why this anime got so much praise.  Any anime that goes on for hundreds and hundreds of episodes while giving no closure in the end is an extremely poor one.  It also doesn't help that so many of the episodes that I watched were so uninteresting and even some didn't have much pertaining to the main storyline (from what I remembered).

Skip this if you want anime that's well-developed, concise, and conclusive.

I tried to watch some episodes of this and I just couldn't get into them. It is like if there are no fights, it is incredibly boring and it takes its time getting to where it wanted to be....

Like what Madpenguin said, they padded out the running length because they know the fans will still buy into it, and therefore resulting in bigger bucks for the creators. This show needs the Shigurui treatment because I'm certain with some re-writing, InuYasha could have been a solid show with a conclusive story all done in 12 episodes.

yeah, and let's not forget all of the filler just to extend the series longer than what it needed to be. But that lack of closure is the biggest kick in the balls! Not even DBZ did that. Although crappy as hell, it still ended with GT.

I never understood why so many anime titles are made longer than they need to be. I think it's totally bananas that Voice of a Distanct Star is only 25 minutes long and that one anime short feels much more fulfilling than InuYasha is.

After the successes of titles like Ranma 1/2 and DBZ, these anime directors and producers know that the anime fanbase are going to eat them up, so that spells a big payday. And I agree; Voices, Neo Tokyo, and Battle Angel, only to name a few, pack far more punch in such a short time than a lot of the overly repetitive bullshit shows.

Inuyasha is very similar to Dragon Ball Z , Yu Yu Hakusho, and even Bleach. It's what I consider the transitional anime. It's great for those new to the genre because it pretty much breaks you in. The violence isn't really over the top, the characters have fun enough personalities to rope you in; however, the problem with the show is that it is way too long for its own good.
