No one writes dialog with the realism and the transparent reality of Richard Price. It is is hallmark, his trademark and it is so well done, so crystal clear that it is almost impossible to notice until well after you put the novel down.
In theory this is a mystery, but like all great books it fully transcends its genre. He writes with a true command of the form of the novel, character development, plot, timing, and the human condition.
It may be that Price's books are a bit to cinema verite to ever be considered "literature" (complete with quotation marks" but they are brilliantly written and incredibly engaging. Highly recommended.
