The notorious punk rock designer.

Vivienne Westwood is an English fashion designer mostly popular for bringing punk rock fashion into the world around the 70's. She met Malcolm McLaren, the manager for the Sex Pistols, and launched her infamous fashions by having the Sex Pistols wear her clothing on stage and having a small boutique named SEX. Throughout the years, Westwood's fashions have been notorious for being "different" than the usual runway outfits. Even today her outfits are still lively just like her. In a review I've read about her, someone asked "How would you describe Vivienne Westwood?" The reply was "Controversial, subversive, inventive and practical."

Vivienne Westwood is absolutely one of my favorite designers out there. Her outfits are so amazing and I love her logo. There's a lot of controversies behind her but I've been a long time fan and it'll continue that way.
The designer behind the insane designs. Logo

This is one of those odd paradoxes of punk music. That a genre that defined itself by being against anything and everything that resembled trendy conformity should inspire a popular trend is so ironic. Great review.

Thanks so much for posting this article......a very good read! I haven't heard the name Vivienne Westwood in awhile, so it was nice to have my memory refreshed.

About this tv show

Vivienne Isabel Swire was born in Glossopdale, Derbyshire, on 8 April 1941.  Beginning as a primary school teacher, her collaboration with Malcom McLaren, launched her fashion career.  McLaren, most known for his efforts in bringing together the punk legends the Sex Pistols, extrapolated Westwood's ability to 'cut[ting in] a dash' in their professional ventures Punk, Let It Rock and Sex.  With the mantra, 'Craft must have clothes but Truth loves to go naked' above the entrance, Sex provided fetish wear with an interior of pornographic graffiti, and catered to the tastes of fashion minorities.

Westwood's collections have included:  World's End; Savage (S/S 1982);  Witches; Hypnos; Mini-Crini; 'Britain Must Go Pagan'
