"Modern Warfare 2" Brings Players to the Front Lines of Battle...and the Edge of Their Seats!

While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 doesn't bring anything "new" to the table as far as gameplay is concerned, it is far better than its predecessor in almost every way. If you thought the graphics for COD 4 were good, MW 2's are even better. The battles are more intense as well, bringing a sense of realism to the table. During these battles, the whole feel of them seems more organized, like you're actually part of the squad you're fighting with, whether that's the Army Rangers or Task Force 141. Infinity Ward has made such a realistic game, that one of the levels s actually optional because it could offend some people. Aside from that, Modern Warfare 2 is the best war sim out today and once you pick that controller up, you won't put it down (unless you're 15 and your mom tells you to come to dinner; you should listen to her).

Again, the gameplay for Modern Warfare 2 hasn't changed to much. Infinity Ward has gone back though and made some changes for the better. If you remember in Call of Duty 4, bad guys would not stop coming, you'd have to fight your way through them if you wanted to get to the next checkpoint, making the game very difficult at times. Now, once you kill enough enemies, they eventually stop showing up. After all, there isn't an infinite amount of enemy soldiers right? Working with your squad in MW2 has also improved as they actually back you up. You'll see them shooting away and killing guys as much as you are. I got the most fun from this during the sniper missions. In order to sneak by enemy patrols, you would have to work together, picking off guards at the same time as not to alert the others. One more minor change in MW2 is that you now have the ability to handle dual weapons. For example, you can now have to pistols or two uzis in your hands. While some people will find this a lot of fun, I barely used it as I was to busy getting shot at to pick up another gun. All in all the, gameplay is just as good as COD 4 and maybe even a little better.

It was actually surprising how quickly I got through the campaign. It took me right under six hours to beat it. Depending on the player, the campaign is supposed to last 6-10 hours and I think it toke me the latter last year because I had never played a game like Modern Warfare before. I had played all the previous Call of Duty titles, but both COD 4 and MW2 are completely different animals. Don't get me wrong, those 6 hours were a lot of fun. From battling in Washington D.C., sniping in snow covered forests in Russia to riding snow mobiles, the campaign was extremely satisfying. One of the biggest reasons people buy this game is for the online play anyway, so most people who get it are going to want to get through the campaign as quickly as possible.

Online play is a lot of fun, it's that simple. People were still playing Call of Duty 4 online right before Modern Warfare 2 came out, as this feature is hugely popular. Again, most people bought MW2 simply for the online play, skipping right past the campaign. Right when I finished the game, I tried to get online and couldn't because there weren't enough servers! When I finally did get on, it was a blast. Some new features have been added to online play as well. Now during last stand (your dying moment), if you shoot the person who shot you and kill him, you'll get back up. Also during deaths during some points, you can steal your killers class, getting all the weaponry he had. While I haven't done it yet, it's a pretty cool feature. Everything else in online play is pretty much the same. Weapon challenges are still there as well as gaining XP to help you unlock new weapons.

If you're a fan of war games in any way shape or form, Modern Warfare 2 is a must buy. Infinity Ward has taken everything from its previous title and made it even better. One warning though; if you are squeamish, offended very easily or if you're a very political person, head the warning about skipping a level of the game. other than that, Modern Warfare 2 is an excellent game and with online play, there are endless hours of entertainment that come from it. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now on the Playstation 3, X Box 360 and the PC. 5/5!

I agree with you whole heartedly on this this review. It is a very good game, but I wince when I hear people throw the word around "great". It has the potential to be, but Infinity Ward instead of trying to make it great and set a new bar, was content with just going with the "if it ain't broke dont fix it" method. Personally, I feel like Infinity Ward is a product of the game industry boom, they seem to be more concerned about selling numbers than how fun the game could be.

Intense and Engaging Campaign

Since I don't have an Xbox 360, I haven't played many games on this platform. When my brother was home for spring break, he introduced me to CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 2 and I was hooked. You'll have a blast! (sorry, forgive me)

I played the heck out of "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" when that first came out. I liked just about everything in the game, from the weapons, to the plot that actually kept me interested, to the fine multi-player mayhem available on Xbox Live. Modern Warfare 2 is a first-person tactical shooter and the sixth entry in the popular Call of Duty series. True to its name and following the lead of its predecessor, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, it places players in modern combat settings, as opposed to the WWII environments of the earlier Call of Duty games.
