Very cool and holds a lot of potential IF it works as advertised

Project Natal was unveiled at this year's E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo), and from the promotion video and the demos shown on the Microsoft press conference, it looks extremely impressive, it can recognize your every move and maps that to the game?!  And it even does voice recognition??!!  This clearly is Microsoft's attempt to steal some of Nintendo's success with their Wii console.

After the press conference, I still have a lot of doubts on whether this technology will work as well as they demoed it, if it actually delivers on all the premises, this can potentially be the next evolution in gaming, where the controller may not be needed in some games (I think for certain games, a standard controller will still work better), and may even introduce all new genres of game previously impossible to do.  And I'll happy change my rating to +5 when that happens!

if this works i bet someone will come up with a game that has to do with being "the ultimate indoorsman"... events like getting comfortable on a sofa or lounging on a recliner. it could have the exact opposite result of the success of the Wii,

This is really cool and kind of freaks me out at the same time! It's like the TV and technology are alive!! I can see this being a problem if there are other people around that are moving in the background (party for example). Have you heard any remarks about that?

About this video game

Project Natal is a revolutionary new way to play video games: no controller required.

A small device containing cameras and a microphone can not only recognize vocal commands, but can 'see' players' movements in 3D, tracking gestures and converting them to in-game movements.

The technology is geared toward allowing users to control games, movies, and anything else on their  Xbox system with their hands alone, and without touching any hardware.
