Fun Board Game Style Game for Young Kids

  • Mar 31, 2008
Rating:

Pros: Fun Rugrats theme and two enjoyable game board styles

Cons: The Reptar Rally board is very boring and long

The Bottom Line: Overall a good game for young kids with some interesting board games to play as multiplayer, but one of the boards is boring.

Rugrats Scavenger Hunt is an interesting board game video game, although it can get boring quickly. It does, however, make for an easy and somewhat enjoyable game for young kids. It is especially fun as a multiplayer game. The graphics for the game are also good for a Nintendo 64 game and the characters are relatively close to how they look in the cartoon. The sound is good, especially with the characters talking every once in a while when it is their turn or when you land on the same space as them.

There are three different board games. The first is Angelica’s Temple. This is a searching board game in which you try to find all the pieces of the broken statues before Angelica finds all her gold pieces. You get to search the rooms when you land on the green baby rattle square. When you search you may also find one of the useful tools such as the compass that allows you to move backwards and the screwdriver that lets you go in secret passageways (Tommy calls them sausageways in the game). You can play a small, medium, or large board in this style and the game has more rooms to search in based on the size, which makes the game last longer because the pieces are spaced out among more places. I like this one because it is a cooperative play game with up to four players. Also, you can play multiplayer even if you only have one controller.

The second game is a Pirate’s Treasure Hunt. This is a multiplayer competitive board game in which the babies compete against each other to be the first to collect one of each four kinds of treasure. The game works very similar to Angelica’s Temple in that you search when you land on the green baby rattle and you can find the same special tools. It has some added fun when you land on the same square as another baby. When this happens you do a battle that is similar to rock, paper, scissors, but instead is cannon ball, sword, flag. You can also chose the length of the game based on board size for this game.

The third game is Reptar Rally and is very different from the others and also the most boring. It is always a long game when playing this way, as you cannot chose game length/board size. In this game you go around and around a mountain and go into different dessert areas to collect a certain amount of desserts. Each character has to collect a certain amount of three kinds of desserts (5 of one, 10 of another, and 15 of one). There are four desserts: chocolate milk, licorice, ice cream, and pudding. Each baby only collects three of the desserts and do not need any of their area’s dessert such as Tommy does not need any ice cream because it is his ice cream zone.
