Transform and roll out!

Ever since the Transformers, in their various guises, first appeared in the USA, I've been a fan. I remember well watching the original cartoons, having a good collection of toys, watching "Beast Wars" and even trying my hand at Transformers fan fiction (no, not slash fiction! One must have standards). So I went into this game with certain expectations (ie: It'd be better than the Bayformers films). Happily those expectations were met!

The game takes place on Cybertron before the Autobots and Decepticons set forth to go to Earth. It centers around the battles that take place just before the great exodus. You take turns playing various characters, including Megatron, Optimus Prime, Starscream, Bumblebee and the like. You take them through various battles and progress the story, much like you'd expect.

The gameplay is really exceptional! Transforming your character is very fluid and easy, which is especially helpful during boss battles. The Transformers lore is there, including appearances by Omega Supreme and Trypticon, as well as end credit music by the great Stan Bush! The voice acting is all top-notch, particularly by Peter Cullen, who has got to be tired of playing Prime by now (also notable is the voice of Jetfire, only because much to my surprise it's NOT Paul McGann). The graphics are also great; really bringing Cybertron to life.

Where does the game fall short? Well, the story isn't great, but it gets the job done. It's also quite a bit too short. As for the multiplayer, eh, I couldn't be bothered. I tried to do a couple matches, but it seemed like there were only about two other people trying to do so, so it didn't work out.

However, if you're looking for a solid single-player experience, this is a decent game and one I'd recommend.

What happened in the three hours of the game?        The first three hours depended on which side you wished to play on.   If you chose to play as the Decepticons, then you were searching for the rumored "Dark Energon" (an extremely powerful and dangerous form of energon). After obtaining the …

Pretty fun shooter....it is a first-person blast 'em to pieces video game that I am close to finishing. Features boss battles and the like; nothing inventive but can be a good diversion.

About this video game

Wiki

Transformers: War for Cybertron is a third person shooter that takes place prior to the Transformers: Prime animated series, when the Transformers still lived on the fictional machine planet Cybertron.[4] The game has two distinct campaigns, one for each faction. The story of the Decepticon campaign is a prelude to the Autobot campaign's story. Both campaigns can be played in single-player or cooperatively via online multiplayer, and can drop in or out of the game at any time.[5] Each campaign level features three playable Transformers. If fewer than three players are present, the game's AI controls the remaining playable characters.[5] Cooperative and competitive modes of the game are limited to online play, with no split screen features available.

Transformers: War for Cybertron is a third-person shooter video game developed by High Moon Studios and published by Activision. It was released on June 22, 2010 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. Two portable versions were released for the Nintendo DS. A game for the Wii called Transformers: Cybertron Adventures was developed by Next Level Games and utilizes the same characters and setting as War for Cybertron. Hasbro also has a toy line releasing in 2010 based on War for Cybertron. The multiplayer demo was released on June 10, 2010 for the Xbox 360 and allows players to experience either "Soldier" or "Scout" class warriors.
