I am a fan of the Nintendo DS. I never had a chance to own a Nintendo DS Lite but I always planned to upgrade when I had enough money saved for it. As soon as I was about to purchase a Lite; one of my friends told me about the new system that came out .. the Nintendo DSi.

The DSi is supposedly a tad bit smaller than the Lite, about 12%. The screens are a tad bit larger. There are two cameras on the new platform, one on the outer shell and on the hinge in the inside. The power switch has been changed into a power button; rumor had it to prevent unwanting shut off. A SD card has been placed for externail storage of media, pictures, and such. There are five brightness settings compared to the DS's four. So far, seems like a good buy.

The one huge flaw about the DSi that I found out is that the GBA cartridge slot has been removed thus you obviously can't play GBA games. This also means any accesories used for the GBA that was compatible with the prior DS platforms cannot be used as well.

The DSi is like a mini Wii, in a way. There is something like the Wii Shop Channel called the DSi Shop. The menu screens are somewhat like the Wii, too.

There are definitely pros and cons to this system. So whether or not DSi suits your fancy, I'm still in the big debate of whether I'll purchase one or not.

Quick Tip by . January 19, 2011
I just recently got a used DSi and like many other users, the left and right buttons stopped functioning properly. Luckily I found out about the registration incentive on Nintendo.com which extends the warranty an additional 3 months. I sent it in and getting the repairs for free! I always really liked Nintendo's customer service.

I bought this in July for my then 12-year-old son so that he would have something to do on a long roadtrip with his grandparents. I wasn't sure whether to get the DSi or the PSP and choose Nintendo because the battery life was longer. It's a choice I haven't regretted.    My son plays with this system all the time. It was well worth the money. The variety of games available for the system is top notch. It's nice that it can fit into my purse or his backpack when we're traveling. …

In 2004, Nintendo released the original Nintendo DS. Just two years later, the Nintendo DS Lite debuted and was better than the original by far. Since its original release, the Nintendo DS has gone on to sell more than 100 million units worldwide. With sales numbers like that, why would Nintendo need to release another revamp of their prized handheld? More than that, are the new features worth picking up if you have a DS Lite or if you still have an original DS? Well, it can be, but …

The System
The Nintendo DSi is a high-powered handheld video game system in a sleek, folding design-loaded with features designed to create a unique gaming experience. Like the DS and DS Lite before it, the DSi features Nintendo's trademark stylus-driven touchscreen technology, but determined to make portable gaming simultaneously larger and smaller in all the right places, Nintendo has also created the DSi with significantly larger screens and an even slimmer body design than its earlier cousins. Other features include the ability to snap photos with built-in cameras, edit and send them to friends, play back your music with Nintendo DSi Sound, or browse the Internet with the Nintendo DSi Browser. From playing games to just playing around, the Nintendo DSi does it all.
