I find this video extremely awkward and funny, not just because of what "Broadway Joe" has to say, but also because of how the commentators act. Keep in mind, this was a game where Joe Namath was honored at half time as being part of Jets. As the guest of honor, they obviously didn't want to embarrass more than he'd already done to himself.
Pay attention to the word, "struggling". It comes out "strug a ling"... hilarious.
On a positive note, this episode on the sideline, was what got Joe Namath sober. No joke. I saw him on 60 Minutes a year or so after this incident, and he cited this interview as the turning point for his sobriety. You can't blame him for getting sober after watching this.
I've watched this video a hundred times. I love it more each time. There's a point where Joe cocks his head to the side and stares goofily at Suzy Kolber. It looks like it was touch and go - he was either going to fall flat on his face or proposition Suzy. Like the winner he is, he held it together, steadied himself and told her he'd like to kiss her. Hilarious.
