All crabs are NOT created equal. I am from Maryland and grew up eating Maryland blue crabs every summer, all summer long. I have to say I'm REALLY picky about my crabs. Dungenous crabs, and King or Snow Crab Legs can't even compare to juicy, sweet taste of Maryland Blue Crabs. Nothing beats hot steamed crabs thrown on a brown paper covered tables, never ending melted butter, Old Bay seasoning, vinegar, corn on the cob and, last but not least, a large pitcher of ice cold beer while you're sitting near the Chesapeake bay on a sweltering hot summer day. Fabulous!
During the summers here in california, I usually find myself dreaming of those days by the water eating crabs. Since moving to here, I have yet to find a seafood restaurant that can even come close to the experience and atmosphere of eating crabs in Maryland, let alone serve whole blue crabs. After much searching for that ultimate seafood restaurant / experience, I finally found The Crab Place (www.crabplace.com) and my dreams became reality.
The Crab Place is an online seafood store based in Crisfield Maryland. Freshly caught Maryland blue crabs are packaged up live or steamed and delivered right to your door overnight. All orders are shipped in insulated Styrofoam boxes and refrigerated using gel packs and/or dry ice. Once you receive the crabs (or other seafood), you cook according to the instructions included in the packaging.
Ever since finding this little gold mine, I have held a Maryland blue crab feast every summer and each has been a hit with all of my guests, including those who've never had the experience before. I highly recommend trying The Crab Place if you like blue crabs are interested in trying something new.
