Telling the world how it is, one sadistic drawing at a time.

  • Dec 2, 2009
If you work with me and hear me chuckling to myself on my computer, do not be alarmed: it's just The Oatmeal. No, I am not referring to my delicious breakfast treat of choice - The Oatmeal is a hilarious site that never fails to amuse me.

I first heard of the creator,  Matthew Inman, when I clicked an ad for a dating site called Mingle2 (Similar to eHarmony or something). It brought me to the comic, "10 Reasons It Would Rule to Date a Unicorn". This link helped introduce me to Matthew as an artist, then later, his site.

This was all at least 6 months ago and somehow, The Oatmeal has entered my life again and is now a full-fledged humor site. I dont think the creator intended his site to be a humor blog, it honestly seems like he just wanted a place to upload his wacky musings that are a cross between an Onion article and someone's design work. Everything he writes is HILARIOUS, but I definitely wouldn't call it "normal" be any means. Take this into consideration when reading...it could very well be too weird for your tastes :) Though very strange, some of his comics are actually very educational, such as "15 Things Worth Knowing About Coffee".

Lately, it seems he's been excited about content that relates to social media/technology, such "10 Things You Need To Stop Tweeting About". I laughed so hard - I am quite guilty of many of them!!

or maybe you'd like "The 6 Types of Crappy Hugs":

I love all the comics so much, so do yourself a favor and look at all of them. If not, here are some of my favorites:

"6 Reasons Bacon is Better Than True Love".
The Three Phases of Owning A Computer
5 Very Good Reasons To Punch A Dolphin in the Mouth

I've just discovered Oatmeal. Not the quaker's choice of breakfast, http://theoatmeal.com/.  Literally, discovered it last night. But it's such a funny site that I haven't been able to stay off of it.       I haven't gotten the complete jist of it- or really why it's in existence- other than it's funny, and I like funny. Oh, and it's clever, and I like clever. And random. Very random. For instance: http://www.thingsbearslove.com/. Things Bear's Love. How can it get …
