One of the really neat things about Lunch.com is that every single day you get a chance to learn about new subjects, explore new media and broaden your horizons.  Earlier this year Donna Linn aka DonnaL1  joined Lunch.  We seem to share a lot of common interests and I was fascinated to learn that she is the host of her own internet radio show.  You could have knocked me over with a feather because I knew next to nothing about this fabulous new medium.  Donna's program "The Uncommon Story" can be found on the web at showmetalkradio.com.   I have heard several of these shows now and I am quite impressed.  From my interactions with her on Lunch I discovered that Donna has spent many years in the radio business. This is quite apparent to me as I find that she is a talented interviewer.

Over the course of 2009 I have caught a couple of Donna's programs featuring lengthy interviews with former child TV starts Stanley Livingston and Don Grady from the 1960's TV show "My Three Sons".  Most recently, Donna conducted a lengthy interview with the veteran actor Richard HerdWhat a fascinating man!  From very humble beginnings in the Boston area Herd has gone on to a highly successful career on television (Star Trek, Seinfeld) and the stage.  He is a man of varied interests who also enjoys painting, photography, writing poetry and dabbles in music as well with a group called the Enterprise Blues Band  that features a number of cast members from the various incarnations of Star Trek. Great stuff!  Check it out!

I find that I really enjoy listening to Donna's program while doing other things on the computer.  Donna covers a variety of topics on her program that run the gamut from social issues to music and entertainment.  You will hear the famous and not-so-famous but I have found most of the guests on Donna's show to be extremely interesting.  For me Donna's programs are a refreshing break from the issues-oriented talk shows I listen to a good part of the day at work.  I have been swapping e-mails with Donna over the past  several months and she has some very interesting shows planned for the near future.  I think that it is very important that Lunch members make every effort to support quality work by others on the site .   So be sure to give "The Uncommon Story with Donna Linn" a try.   Very highly recommended!

I've never heard of internet radio either, and Donna never mentioned it to me at all. I'll have to check it out.

Hi......thanks for the updated review. We just published our latest story yesterday. It's pretty high brow stuff, with three of our country's most renown storytellers....Lynn Rubright, Bobby Norfolk and Annette Harrison. They all have great voices and I think we blend together masterfully. We all had a great time during the interview.....lots of laughs, warm and engaging. They talk about their start, shyness and many other concepts are discussed, such as character development through storytelling. I did this interview in conjunction with the University of Missouri, St. Louis. The show is right under my slideshow of pictures, directly beneath the Don Grady interview. It reads, "Ignite Your Imagination." Thanks for listening!

I guess I would qualify as a frustrated writer. My work requires very little writing and so since 1999 I have been writing reviews on non-fiction books and anthology CD's on amazon.com. I never could … more

About this website

General interest internet talk radio program hosted by Donna Linn. The program features lively interviews and focuses on a variety of fascinating and off-beat topics.

Wiki

Providing intelligent and thought-provoking radio, The Uncommon Story with Donna Linn features in depth profiles, light hearted banter and poignant interviews with Donna Linn as its host and executive producer. The format generally highlights one topic per program, sometimes with an array of guests as well as a call-in guest. Elegant and low-keyed, the extended format allows more than enough time to discuss each topic at length.

Donna interviews the non-famous to celebrity, such as well-known authors, business leaders, movers and shakers, and the unusual offbeat human interest story of the common man who has demonstrated uncommon valor. Significant coverage is given to social issues and the arts and entertainment, including movies, music and special segments offer a rare and in depth look into the lives of filmmakers, philosophers and musicians not often covered on traditional talk shows.
Upcoming guests are world-renowned storytelling artist and author, Lynn Rubright and popular bandleader and musician, Bob Kuban.
