I replaced my Verizon VM with YouMail.  I love this service.

  • You can give your friend's their individual voice mail greetings.
  • Your voice mail is emailed to you as an mp3
  • You get a text message
  • it's free

This morning I was out taking pictures and I missed a call.  When I got back, there was a text message from YouMail to let me know who called.  You also can receive an email with the voice mail attachment sent as a MP3.

You can receive a text transcription  of your voice mail  sent to your phone.  (with a pro subscription)

YouMail offers an app for smart phones too.

My iPhone has visual voicemail, but I use Google Voice on top of it.  GV actually sends me text transcripts of my voice mail for free (it's not very accurate though!).  I may just have to check out YouMail to see if theirs is any better and I really like the sound of those personalized individual greetings.  Thanks for the helpful review, Jeanine! :)

I have been going to the google voice mail page to let them know when the email transcripts are not useful. Then, they ask for you to donate your voice mail message to help them with further improvements. I have a feeling that Google will improve on this feature quickly, especially with users like us who are providing them important feedback.

The voicemail roll in.  There's one from my mom.  There's that telemarketer or is that a bill collector?  My boss want something and WOAH, that girl is calling me back.  Do I really want to listen to all of these in the order that they came in?  The answer is no and I don't have to, thanks to YouMail.      When the iPhone came out, Visual Voicemail was the biggest thing that they brought to the table.  I quickly hit the Internet and found out …

Wiki

YouMail is an independent visual voicemail provider, providing phone users with a voicemail system independent of their traditional wireless or landline carriers. Standard features of independent voicemail providers include webmail-like voicemail access and voicemail-to-text transcriptions.

The company primarily marketed its cell phone greetings in 2007 from celebrities such as Katt Williams, but has since shifted to marketing voicemail transcriptions products in 2008.

YouMail is the standard voicemail that comes with all cell phones from Immix Wireless.
