Better Than The Rest

There are so many web services that shorten URLs: 2Zeus, 9mp, a.gd, a.nf, abbrr, arm.in, bloat.me, Buk.me, BurnURL, Chilp.it, cli.gs, Clop.in, DiggBar, Fly2.ws, Foxy URL, Good.ly, Gurl.ex, hex.io, idek.net, is.gd, J2j.de, kissa.be!, Kisa.Ch, kl.am, Kots.Nu, Kurze (krz.ch), Lincr, LinxFix, LNK.by, Metamark (xrl.us), micURL, migre.me, min2.me, MinURL, Moourl, MyURL.in, Pendek.in, Pic.gd, PiURL, Plurl, pnt.me, POPrl, Puke.It, Qurl, r.im, RDE.me, rnk.me, RubyURL, Sai.ly, shorl, Short.ie, short.to, shortn.me, Shrtn, Smallr.net, SnipURL (sn.im), song.ly, TightURL, TimesURL, tini.us, Tiny.cc, TinyURL, to.vg, tr.im, tra.kz, Tweetburner (twurl.nl), Twip.us, Twirl.at, u.nu, ur.ly, URL (un)faker, URL.ie, urlBorg, urlShort (u.mavrev.com), urlzen, Virl, vl.am, vtc.es, x.vu, XORTR (xrt.me), XR.com, xrl.in, Z.PE, ZipMyURL, ZZ.GD...

But bit.ly is above them all.

Just like all the rest, you supply them with a URL to shorten.  But the best part of bit.ly is what they do after the shortening.  If you sign up for an account, you can track your links... see how many clicks you've gotten, what date, time, etc.  They also archive all of your links, so you can just copy and paste again when you need the link.  Bit.ly also allows you to post directly to Twitter, making the whole process much more streamlined.

They also have a JavaScript bookmark that you can use to shorten URLs easily.

I've been wondering what bit.ly is and why its seem to have replaced tinyurl in tweets.  And my, that's a huge list of URL shorteners!

I definitely would not have known about that huge list without Wikipedia. :) Yea.. I cheated. LOL. Only TinyURL came to mind... so I had to do a bit of research.

Haha, I would've had to wiki that, too.  I don't think I've ever seen any of those other ones before!
