Joy Luck Club

Amy Tan's novels which she has written are wonderful to show the aspect of Chinese-American life which many people may not be able to understand.  She presents it to the common person clearly so that they are able to see the difference between what we think is normal in America versus what is seen as being normal in the Chinese world.

Her characters are very life-like and draw you in to their world with the stories of why they behave in the certain ways that they do.  Besides having just written the Joy Luck club, she has written many other books which also focus on the American Chinese struggle which is inside of so many people who feel as though they are torn between the two worlds.

This is a wonderful read for anyone who is interested in learning about the difference in behaviors between the two worlds.  Even if you are just interested in the stories about characters which you can easily identify with, this is one of the books you need to read.
