29510 US Highway 169
Aitkin, Minnesota 56431

218-927-6001

Until they are all sold, they will continue renting them for daily accommodations. We managed this campground for three seasons and the expectations of the owners are of a first class rate. We revisited as guests in 2011 and the standards are just as high.

All sites have water, electric and sewer, they are not very level and some are bigger then others but if they are managed correctly then they will be able to put you in the correct site for your rig. The price you will pay will be around $50, depending on the size of your family and if you bring any pets.

They have WiFi but it is not very strong. Our Verizon phones and MiFi hardly work, AT&T and T-Mobile phones worked the best.

This is more of a campground that families stay for the weekend so the weekdays are usually available for overnighters, especially the few pull throughs. The restroom/showers were clean and a small laundry room which needs to be updated. They have a game room, store, a gathering room with puzzles, book exchange and plenty of activities for the kids on the weekends.

They are located right on a small lake where the fishing is great or for you to just relax.

Most of the folks that stay here are from Minnesota, but everyone is welcome. For those of you who are looking for a place to call home during the summer months, they are selling their lots and it is a great community with great people that you can call your family.

We took hundreds of photos while we worked here, to see them all, check out our Picasa Web Albums.

<![CDATA[ A Place To Call Home]]> Lighthouse Village RV Resort
1001 24 Mile Road
Homer, MI 49245
866-469-4514

This is a membership park only, we stayed here in June of 2011 for a week using our Coast to Coast membership and paid $10 per night for a water, electric, sewer and free WiFi. Our Verizon phones and MiFi were a bit on the slow side but were usable. We found a site without so many trees so we were able to use our DirecTV dish.

This is absolutely one of those places that if we were to ever settle down it would be at a place like this. Very well manicured areas and each member has the same sort of pride with their own sites. It feels more like a community instead of an RV Resort.

They have several areas with restrooms and showers and each one was immaculate.

You won’t be bored here, they offer several playground areas, one even had a wooden train for the kids to climb on. We watched many folks fish on the lake and the pond. You can swim in the crystal clear pool or in the lake with a great beach area, or even enjoy the very hot indoor Jacuzzi. There is something for everyone, they have shuffleboard, horseshoes, Putt-Putt Golf, and a recreation room filled with billiards, ping pong table, and all sorts of other indoor activities. The library is huge and offers an area to build puzzles or use the computer to go online.

There pet policy was normal and they seemed to adhere to it since we did not notice any violators which always makes it more comfortable for us to enjoy our stay.

“No pets are allowed in the clubhouse. No pets are permitted on the beach or in the playground. Pets must be maintained and controlled on a leash at all times. You are responsible for cleaning up after your pet.”

If you ever get the opportunity to stay here, do not pass it up, we will certainly stay here again.

<![CDATA[ The Hill Campground / Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe]]> 7525 E Tomah Road
Mount Pleasant, MI 48858
(989) 772-2285

We camped here in June 2011 in our motorhome for one night. The only discount they offered was a $1 off for seniors, which we did not qualify, but he gave it to us anyway. We paid $16 for a water and electric site, they do not have any sewer hookups but they do have a conveniently located dump station. They also offer very inexpensive weekly and monthly rates. Our Verizon phones and MiFi worked great, as did our DirecTV dish.

The sites were a bit rough but we were level with just a few adjustments. They are currently updating all of the sites so they will all be 20/30/50 amps, for now make sure you let them know what you need and then he will give you the right sites with the proper amps.

The restrooms were a bit outdated and were not sparkly, they had spider webs and many dead bugs around which could have happened overnight or not. The pool area was clean and sparkly.

They are associated with the nearby Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort and offer a free 24/7 shuttle service. All you have to do is call the casino and let them know that you need a ride and they will arrive at your site.

We would recommend this place and if we are ever in the area again, we would stay here.

6800 Soaring Eagle Blvd
Mount Pleasant, MI 48858

In June, 2011 we boondocked here.

They do not have a RV Park, but they have a hotel and offer boondocking with plenty of space and shuttle service 24/7. We had a little problem with our camera and our photos of the area did not turn out, but if we are ever in the area again, we will certainly stop and take some better photos.

The casino is huge with all the latest and greatest slot machines and plenty of table gaming. We ate at the Buffet and it was a bit pricey for lunch, it cost a little under $30 but it was really good. The only promotions by getting a players card was 10% off on purchases, food and merchandise.

We boondocked here in June of 2011.

This casino does not have a hotel or an RV Park, but they do allow boondocking overnight. It is a small casino with many of the newer slot machines. The only restaurant they have is a Subway and a Deli. If we are ever in the area again, we would stop by again.

2521 NW Bayshore Drive
Suttons Bay, MI 49682

We boondocked here on June 6, 2011.

They have an area across from the casino where you can hook up to electricity only for $7 which was perfect since it was a 90 degree day. We are perfectly content if we have electricity instead of using our generator, boondocking is not so bad then. We might have stayed a few nights but the casino was really small and not too many good machines that we like playing. We had excellent Verizon phone and MiFi service.

We had dinner at the Double Eagle Restaurant which was good, nothing too great for under $30, but was good. We really like the electric hookup, but because the casino is so small, if we are ever in the area again we would not go out of our way to stay here.

We boondocked here in June of 2011. They do not have a RV Park but do make it very inviting for boondocking. There is ample space and we were greeted immediately by the shuttle to get us to the casino. He said if we are ever in need of a ride 24/7, just turn on our flashers and the shuttle will come to us. We had excellent service with our Verizon phones and MiFi.

The casino is beautiful, but unfortunately the machines were so tight, so tight that we only stayed a few hours before heading out. There were no promotions for first time visitors. We ate at the Seasons Buffet but they only serve off the menu for lunch, which is not indicated on the website. It was tasty, but nothing special for under $20.

If we are ever in the area again, we might check it out just to see if the machines would play with us a little more or not.

We boondocked here in June 2011.

They do not have any sort of RV Park but they do allow you to boondock overnight as long as you like. They have a great area for boondocking that is well lit up and away from the casino. They do offer a shuttle service from the area by using the phone provided to call a shuttle to come get you. We had great signal for our Verizon phones and MiFi.

The machines were nice and loose and they really gave some great promotions. We ate buffet lunch for free, coins to win extra money, and entries for all sorts of giveaways. They were so friendly and went out of their way to accommodate their guests. If we are ever in the area again, we will stop by to play and boondock.

NOTE: Boondocking is camping without any hookups.

<![CDATA[ Rand McNally Wins the Worst Customer Service Award Hands Down]]> Rand McNally Wins theRand McNally Wins the Worst Customer Service Award Hands Down
The following message will be distributed to blogs, Facebook, media and anybody else that will publish it in the days ahead...

On Monday, May 23, we decided to order it on their website before you could purchase it in the stores. For ordering it before June 1, we would save $70 and free shipping, so we did! That was without a doubt the beginning of the worst customer service we have ever had to deal with, so much so that even though for the few hours we had it in our hands we believed it was the greatest invention since sliced bread, we are now going to wait until another company comes up with the same product and for now purchase another GPS or possibly just live with the one we have.

Where do we begin…?

Anytime we order anything online, we track our packages. In the past, we have almost exclusively ordered from Wal-Mart or Amazon because they have the absolute best shipping in place, something as a full-time traveler is very important to us. We need our packages to be delivered without any sort of delays since we plan them so precise to our travels.

After the initial ordering, we tracked it and for days nothing…we became increasingly concerned since the holiday weekend was upon us and we needed it to be delivered on the following Tuesday as promised. We had already sent three emails asking for some sort of status and received NO reply. Then, on Thursday afternoon, we called again but this time refused to just leave a message, we insisted on speaking with somebody in charge. We were advised that there was some sort of warehouse issue and the package may not even begin processing until Tuesday of the following week. This was not acceptable to us. We went back and forth and we had to finally settle for them sending it to the next park we will be at next week.

Just a little side note, during all of this, we found that our credit card had been overcharged and we were dealing with another department for this. Finally, after several calls and emails we got this resolved…well not totally resolved as yet, but they said they would credit our account the overcharge, as of this moment it has NOT happened.

We received the package on Wednesday, and let me say for a few hours we played with it and absolutely LOVED all the different things we could do with it. We will not get into it too much since what happened next took away from all of its greatness!

On Thursday, we connected it to our computer to download the software and get the latest updates and weird things began to happen…we tried everything and all we kept getting were critical errors. Finally called the technical department. This time we got a very helpful guy who said that this has never happened but we tried this and that and finally diagnosed that we would need to send the device back it to them so they can repair it and then send it back to us, which could take a few weeks.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

After many conversations with the supervisors, we all agreed that we would send this one back to them but did not want it repaired and returned to us. Instead, they would IMMEDIATELY send us one so it would get to us by Monday (since once again we would be leaving this place on Tuesday) and we would send this paperweight back to them. He suggested calling on Friday for the tracking number.

That call was suppose to be simply calling for the tracking number…NOT! Once again, the representative turned out to be a nincompoop. There are plenty of other descriptive words that could be used to describe his inability to communicate with me, but for now, we will stick with this one. He began reading script to me on what the policies were for Rand McNally on returns and continued to talk over me when I tried to explain to him that this was an extenuating circumstance that was approved yesterday by a supervisor. He put me on hold so many times and upon his return would once again quote his script. Every time I asked for a supervisor, he said they were all busy and would take a message, I told him I would hold. He told me he had other calls to take, he would give a supervisor my message, and he would return my call within 48 hours, I told him I would hold. This went on for so long, finally when he returned once again quoting the same script and I once again told him I would hold for a supervisor…he said thank you, goodbye now and hung up on me! You could see the steam coming off my head for miles…

I gathered my composure, called a different department this time (sales), and got a wonderful young man who was so sympathetic with my dilemma. He read all the notes and added more of mine that the last young man did not write in. After us going back and forth, we came up with a compromise that I was not happy with but was willing to settle for. He would place a brand new order for a new one to be delivered to us by Monday immediately and he even said he would personally open the box and test it once again so that it would not have any issues. The only problem with this idea is that he would have to charge my card again but it would be refunded once they receive the broken unit. As I said, I was not thrilled with this idea but it would get us our new device to us before we leave this place. He said he would call me later on Friday with the new tracking number for delivery on Monday. The call never came…

I left messages on his direct line he gave me along with numerous messages on the other line, along with several emails to all sorts of different departments and still not heard a thing. Today is Saturday, we do anticipate any sort of resolution, and our only recourse at this point is to just let it go. Too much hassle and annoyance and when that much is against us, we know that it is not meant for us. We will now only fight with them to get all of our money back and then find another GPS or as we said, we may just stay with the one we have. I am so tired of fighting…

<![CDATA[ Not The Best...But Certainly Not The Worst Either!]]> Lakewood Village Resort
14296 Cemetery Road
Wapakoneta, OH 45895

We paid $10 per night with our Coast to Coast membership for a water, electric and sewer site. Our DirecTV and Verizon phones and MiFi worked perfectly.

We had made this reservation months ago but for some reason there was a gliche attached that we were not aware of until we checked in. Coast to Coast members are not allowed through the holiday weekends, but since ours was made and confirmed, they honored it, which was a very nice thing to do. But, because of this they sent us to the very back area which was not as manicured as the other areas and we soon found out that it was where all the campers came on the weekend. It was also an area that was not patrolled often and that had many long termers who did not keep their sites up.

The staff worked hard keeping the restrooms, laundry room and other areas clean during a very busy Memorial Weekend, they should be highly commended. Once the holiday was over we opted to move to another site up close to the pool where it was much nicer.

Their pet policy of “Pets must be on a leash no longer than 10 feet at all times.“ was not enforced especially over the weekend but we noticed at other times as well. Many folks allowed their dogs to run free, grant it for the most part we noticed these dogs stayed in their area but since they were loose it made me feel uncomfortable to walk freely around the campground.

Even though with the few concerns about this park, if we are ever in the area again, we would stay here but it is one of those parks that refer itself as a resort and it really is a campground.

<![CDATA[ Another Class Act Resort]]> Little River Casino RV Park
2700 Orchard Hwy
Manistee, MI 49660

Using the 10% discount with either AAA, AARP or Players Club, we paid $16.96 per night for a water, electric, sewer, back in site with free cable and WiFi on a level slab. We had excellent cell phone and MiFi service with Verizon.

We stayed here once before in September of 2008 and were impressed then so we thought we would give it another try. Not much had changed, except for the weather and we no longer tow the Jeep, so that may be a giveaway that these photos are from 2008.

They have clean and modern showers, restrooms and laundry facilities. They offer coffee in the office that stays open until late into the evening. You may use the hotel’s pool and exercise room with the key they give you.

They offered shuttle service that picked you up and took you back to your site with just a phone call to valet at the casino. On our first morning there, we were warned to immediately take cover due to a tornado touching down just a short ways from the casino. We jumped on the shuttle but before we even made it half way to the casino the warning had been cleared. The wind was howling and the rain was so heavy at times, we could not even hear each other scream. Out of the 3 days we were there, we opted to stay at the hotel for 2 of the nights.

We only paid $73 a night for some very nice accommodations. The first night they were totally booked so they upgraded us to a suite, we checked out the next morning but the storms began once again so we stayed again but this time was a regular room and either one was great. Thought we took photos of the rooms, but somehow they got lost or deleted.

We would highly recommend either the hotel or the RV Park and they also allow boondocking in the parking lot. This is a class act place and whenever we are in the are, we will certainly stay there again.

They didn’t seem to have any sort of rules or pet policy posted anywhere. But since it was such a well maintained park, it seemed everyone used their common sense and picked up after their pets, didn’t tie them up outside and kept them quiet.

For more reviews of ours, check out our blog. Be sure to check out our photos too!

<![CDATA[ Needs Lots of TLC & Change of Management]]> American Campgrounds/Spring Lake Resort

Kalamazoo, MI 49009

We paid $10 per night with our Coast to Coast membership for a water, electric and sewer site. We had excellent service with our DirecTV and Verizon, both phone and MiFi.

Originally our plan was to spend a few days here but the place was just not what we anticipated. The sites are rough, grassy non-level, small, and the hookups are just plain illogically set up.

Upon checking in at the front gate, we were told to go grab any site and then come back and let them know which one we took. We do not have a vehicle and really now, why should we have to come all the way back up the hill while it rained just to do their job?

We looked at so many sites before finally deciding on one but could not hook up our sewer if we hooked up our water and electric. Dogs were allowed to run free and most were chained up outside and barked and lunged very often during our one night stay.

This is a membership park and this is no way to attract any buyers. They do have rules, but at no time did we see any security or any sign of management to get folks to adhere to the rules. Open sites, as well as sites that were occupied were not manicured and looked very trashy. This is not a resort, it is a campground and not a very attractive one at best.

With some TLC and management that cares about customer service, this could be a nice place, but until then it will remain a mediocre campground that we will not be recommending to others or returning ourselves.

As for adding their “Pet Policy” to this review, we see no reason for it since they did not enforce it.

For more reviews from us, check out our blog and our many photos!

<![CDATA[ Well Trained Staff]]> Dayton Tall Timbers Resort KOA
7796 Wellbaum Road
Brookville, OH 45309
800-562-3317

Date we visited - 5/15 - 5/24/2011

Paid $45 using our KOA discount card for a FHU back-in site, included free 40 channel cable and WiFi but we were able to use our own Verizon MiFi with good service.

The grounds and sites on this park are so very well maintained and manicured. The laundry room and restrooms are kept immaculate. The staff is the courteous we have ever encountered. They are very well trained and each and every one of them is always willing to go way above what is normal service.

Even though their charges are on the high side and our company picked up most of our tab, if we are ever in the area again, we would certainly stay here. Customer service is high on our scale for why we return to many places and this park has the best ever.

This is their Pet Policy which from what we could see was enforced.

Pets must be kept on a leash and under control at all times. Pets are not to be unattended. Please use the dog walk and pet areas and clean up after your pet. Pets are not permitted in any building, pool, lake or playgrounds. Breeds not permitted include Pit Bulls, Rottweilers and Doberman Pinschers.

<![CDATA[ A Place to Call Home]]> Bee’s RV Resort
20260 US Highway 27
Clermont, FL 34715
352-429-2116

We stayed here twice while we were in Florida and we paid $10 per night using our Coast to Coast membership for a pull-thru FHU including WiFi but we used our MiFi. Cable can be included for an additional cost but we used our DirecTV dish, so we can’t comment on what they had available.

If you want to make sure each site is full every day, then treat your customers the way this resort does, especially not charging any additional “Resort Fees” as many of the other resorts throughout Florida do.

What they lack in manicured maintained lawns, they well make up for it in customer services. This is a people park, once you are here, you feel like family. They have a pool, shuffleboard, horseshoes, and loads of activities that we participated in and felt welcomed at all times.

They only have one laundry room and it is usually in use, but the dryers work so well, it takes no time to finish the task at hand. The restrooms and laundry areas are not in the best of shape and not kept as clean as they could, but they are not filthy.

One of the strangest things about this place is the trash area is way out of the way and they do not pick up at your site. It was nice to take a walk or bike ride through the park to the trash area, but it would be difficult if we had heavy trash to take out since we do not have a vehicle with us. In that instance, the very friendly staff or other guests would be more than willing to give us a hand.

Each time we began our walk to the laundry room with our clothes, somebody always stopped and offered us a ride. It is the friendliest place we have ever been.

We did not see any instances with any pets while we were there, so they must adhere to their rules. Pet Policy - Pets must be on a 6’ leash (or shorter) at all times and must be picked up after. No aggressive pets!

On Tuesdays, they offer an all-you-can-eat Fried Chicken Dinner and on Fridays, they offer an all-you-can-eat Fish Dinner for under $10. We took advantage for both offers and both were really tasty.

If we are ever in the area again, we would definitely stay here. Check out all of our photos at our Picasa Web Albums.

1/26 - 1/29/11 - 3 nights

With our KOA savings card, we paid $65.93 per night for a FHU pull-thru, including cable and WiFi. Our Verizon phone coverage was excellent as well as our MiFi use. The price was exuberant which we try to avoid as often as possible but there are certain areas that just get away with charging as much as possible. As far as worth the price, in our opinion NO RV Park or campground is worth that much.

Roads were paved but the sites were sand, gravel and grass but were level. The pool was heated and very well maintained, the area was big, and not too crowded at the time we were there since it was winter. They had miniature golf, horseshoes, a nice playground and a game room to keep the kids busy.

The store had all the conveniences you may need, they even serve some meals and it all had a really nice feel to it. They also offered dumping service and propane. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable regarding the activities in the area.

The laundry facilities were small for such a large park and the restrooms were kept sparkly clean even though we did not use either of them.

Even though the cost absolutely does not justify it and our next visit to the area, we will find other accommodations, we would recommend this park to others because of it‘s high quality of maintenance.

Pet Policy - Pets permitted at management’s discretion. One pet per site unless approved by management. Pets are not permitted to be tied outside RV. Pets must be walked on leash in designated areas only. Barking dogs will not be tolerated. No exotic pets. Pets are not permitted in cabins.

Funny thing about the pet policy…as we were leaving on our shuttle the first morning, a couple received a phone call that their pet that they tied up outdoors to the water faucet had torn it out of the ground. During this conversation, we could only hear his side but he was telling the person on the other line to just tie the pet to his bumper and they would be back later in the day to take care of all expenses. We were appalled until they finally asked the driver to turn around (we were only one block away) so they could take care of their pet problem. This should have been taken care of prior to us even leaving the area since the call came in minutes before we left. He even had the audacity to ask if the shuttle could drive him to their site, thank goodness the driver did not oblige this request.

<![CDATA[ Just Another Encore Resort]]> Clerbrook Golf & RV Resort
20005 US Highway 27 N
Clermont, FL 34715
800-440-3801 / 352-394-5513

With our Coast to Coast membership we paid $31.50 for water, electric and sewer. It was another Encore Resort that charges additional charges just because they can get away with it. Usually our membership gets us $10 night stays and only charges extra for possibly cable and WiFi, which we never need since we have our own. This has become a normal policy but there are some parks that do not charge all those extra charges and the next time we are here during this peak season, we will make it a point to stay at those locations.

There is nothing special about this park to warrant the additional charges, it is a nice park but just down the street was another of our C2C parks which we only pay $10 per night with no hidden or additional costs that we would prefer to stay at for any future stays.

The sites were huge, both wide and long, we actually had enough room on our site to accommodate two more rigs. The restrooms and laundry room were not kept as nicely as they could have been, there was just neglect to them where they are not sparkly cleaned and haven’t been for quite awhile.

They had activities daily, getting to them was a challenge because this park is so huge, it is really a distance to go for any of the activities. Being able to choose between several different sites upon arrival, we were able to choose a very level one, all of them were on sand and grass, no patios and a picnic table for every other site.

No pets allowed on the golf course. Please refrain from letting your pet enter other people’s sites. Walk your pet on the roads and the pet path. No pets are allowed in our Resort Buildings, swimming areas, rental units or the Pro-Shop. You are responsible for cleaning up after your pet at all times! Please dispose of your pet’s waste in a plastic bag and put in a dumpster or garbage container. Excessive noise by pets is not tolerated. Most people adhered to the rules.

Kissimmee, FL 34746

Even though we used our Coast-to-Coast membership, we still paid $41.53 per night for 6 nights, but we wanted to be close to Sea World and Discovery Cove for our play days. We went to several different sites before we finally decided on one that was level and did not have huge anthills all over it.

We had a full hookup with water, electric and sewer that also included cable and WiFi, we did not use since we have our own satellite and our Verizon MiFi was great.

The park was huge, they have almost a thousand sites, many were cottages or occupied by long-term renters. The restrooms and showers were very nice and kept clean. The laundry facilities were adequate, the only thing we objected to was you needed to get a card and put money on it. Of course, you can never guess exactly and who wants to have to run up to the office in the middle of laundry to reload the card. We still have over $6 on the card and if we are ever in another area that uses those types, I hope we remember we have the card. Washers were $1.45 and the same for 60 minutes of drying.

Loads of things to do for the kids, both young and old, playground, miniature golf, basketball court, pool and spa, just to mention a few.

Pets are permitted at management’s discretion. One pet per site, unless approved by management. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times, and the owner is responsible for cleaning up after their pet. Aggressive breeds are not allowed. Pet policy will be strictly enforced. We notice that to be very true which is always a plus for us.

We would recommend it to others and if we were ever in the same area, we would stay here again.

<![CDATA[ Language Barrier Or Just Plain Rude...You Decide!]]> Twin Lakes RV Travel Park
3055 Burris Road
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33314
(954) 587-0101

We stayed for 11 nights while we worked at the Miami Beach Antique Show. They charge $50 per night during peak season and $35 per night during non-peak for a water, electric and sewer only. If you pay by the week it averages out to be $45 per night, not much of a savings.

The surrounding area was industrial and right on the airport traffic path which made for a lot of noise. We worked the entire time while we were here so we did not have much opportunity to just hang out. There were several evenings we had to close our windows and it was hot, due to some sort of machinery in one of the nearby industrial shops going on all night long.

The sites were very close to one another and the one we were in had a great tiled patio and a storage unit, which we did not use. Most sites were occupied by seasonals or long term renters. There were many high ended rigs and most had Canadian plates. The language most used by the workers and signage was French.

The restrooms were in need of not only some major repairs but they were not clean and the smell was dreadful.

They did not offer cable nor WiFi, but we had our own excellent coverage from our Verizon MiFi and Direct TV satellite.

There were a few of the workers that was down right rude. There was a misunderstanding about our reservation, they should have charged the card in full for the entire stay when the reservation was made, but apparently they only took a $200 deposit. We checked in after hours on Saturday evening and they were closed on Sunday, we stopped in on Monday morning for a key access to the gate since it had been very inconvenient for us to get in and out all weekend. We were given our pass…finally and we went to work. Within a few hours, we began receiving calls from the office that we needed to immediately come in and pay our balance in full. I explained it should have been paid and that we were not there and the language barrier made it difficult to get her to understand, she became extremely ruder by the minute. There were other instances that we were met by extremely rude workers as well.

Even though it was a very well manicured park, we would not recommend it to anyone. Customer service is always at the top of our list and this place was lacking any sort of respect and common sense when dealing with the public.

Pets are permitted on leash only and are not to be left unattended in the campground or allowed in pool area or any public buildings. There policy must be strictly enforced since we did not see any issues involving pets.

<![CDATA[ Three Flags RV Resort]]> Three Flags RV Resort
1755 East SR 44
Wildwood, FL 34785
352-748-3870
1/17/2011 for 2 nights

This is a Thousand Trails park that we paid $13 per night for a pull-thru FHU with our Coast to Coast membership. They had a $3 additional “Resort Fee” on top of the $10 we pay through our membership. This is becoming a more frequent occurrence during peak season in many locations.

They received a Five Star Resort rating, for which we are not sure how that rating is calculated, this is a very nice park, but not a five star resort.

Sites were grass and sand and very spacious, we could actually fit two of us into our space. There were very tall trees throughout the park but we were able to find one without any of them.

There are two separate parts of this park, the front part for the short timers and the rear for the more long timers, we were put in the front area. Many of the amenities were located in the rear area.

There was a big laundry facility that had ample machines that could accommodate many loads, we did not use them but at the time we were checking them out they were all available.

The recreation area was under major construction, they were renovating the entire interior with new tile and other items. We were advised that it would be completed by the following week. Our plan is to utilize this convenient locale once again while we are in the Florida area, so we will then update our review regarding this area.

The pool was at the front of the park, right next to the office area. There were restrooms attached but they did not have showers in them, plenty of room for them but none were installed, very wasted space. We did not locate the other restrooms for photos but will attempt to do just that on our next visit.

Phone coverage was excellent, we used our Verizon MiFi with full bars that worked wonderfully.

Pet Policy - We love pets, but some folks give their pets a bad reputation! Pets should be kept on a leash at all times. Please use the pet walk and don’t allow your pet on other campsites. Owners are responsible for what their pet leaves behind! Please clean up after your pet. We reserve the right to exclude pets if complaints are received. Pets are not allowed in any building or in rental trailers.

Check out our blog and Picasa Web Album for more stories and photos!

But the BEST part of the Circus Circus KOA was that they weren't sticklers for rules and regulations! Our cross-country roadtrip included doing Karaoke at our every stop, so when we were stuck for a venue in Las Vegas to play the karaoke show, the Circus Circus KOA didn't balk a minute at the fact that we decided to perform right in the middle of the RV park! Not only that, but they drove up around 10 pm (the quiet hour) and told us we could have another hour! Then, when we shut down at 11 pm, they came by to thank us!

The Circus Circus KOA rocks. I recommend it highly. Heck, even if you don't have an RV, they have an airstream there that you can rent out for a couple of days. :)]]>
