Planet of the Apes
So, no one ever told me the original Planet of the Apes movie was about religion! Now I can finally see what everyone had against the Tim Burton remake which came out a few years ago. (I was not a fan of the remake myself.)    Movies revolving around people who are captured, enslaved, and turned into freaks by their supreme oppressors usually have a very specific theme and formula. …

**** out of ****    Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) finds himself the victim of "for-the-hell-of-it" logic. An intelligent, fast-talking police officer in London's Metropolitan Police Service; he is one day called into the office of his superiors, where they proceed to give him a lecture on how good he is at what he does, and how his thorough and consistent goodness has led them to …

April Fool's Day -- History, Traditions, and Foolishness
This movie is the GREATEST vampire epic EVER! It has everything--a great looking female lead, romance, action and even drama. People should go out and buy the movies since they are now either $4 or $ 5 in BBuy! I mean, movies like this come once in a lifetime. This is better than Star Wars, anything Tarantino has made, Lord of the Rings, anything Ridley Scott has made or Spielberg for that matter, …

**** out of ****    It's the hottest day of the summer in an all-black neighborhood somewhere in Brooklyn. Residents search for beer in a blazing wasteland of heat, while others simply unscrew the fire hydrant and let the cold goodness flow out into the streets like uncontrollable rapids. In the middle of it all, the neighborhood shops have opened come morning; and both their employees …

Star Wars - Episode III, Revenge of the Sith
Hayden Christiensen won Worst Supporting Actor for this film -- regardless, I did enjoy the fight scenes, seeing the Attack of the Wookies and other fun scenes.  The ending however was rushed but there's nothing like seeing Vader with his helmet on.  This film is on par with Empire Strikes Back.
The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956 film)
I like Hitchcock’s The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) the same way I like To Catch a Thief. Both are big, fat, slick and satisfying entertainments made by a professional at the top of his game, with To Catch a Thief a better movie. While To Catch a Thief packs in naughtiness and more charm, neither leave any questions afterwards except “Where do we want to stop for a bite before going home?” &nbs …

Groundhog Day (1993)
Just rewatched this comedy classic for the first time in a while, and was struck again by how powerful and timeless this comedy is!  Comedies usually have a short shelf life, but this and Tootsie are two that still leave me thinking afterward how much I want to be a better man for my wife, and wondering if I would go to the same lengths to be woo her as do Bill Murray and Dustin Huffman.    …

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
Action, Romance, Comedy and filled with homage for all the things we love; this film is just a rockin’ good time! This stands as one of my favorite comic book adaptations and a refreshing change from all the super-hero movies that have plagued us of late.      C’mon, how can you resist a super-powered Vegan with telekinetic powers?      See Full …

Tron Legacy
“Tron Legacy eh? Isn’t Tron that weird old movie with the terrible computer graphics?”      Those were my first words when I heard of this movie. I remember watching Tron as a kid it came on the Disney Channel one day while watching I thought it was the coolest and weirdest thing ever. Obviously as a 9 year old kid I was really only watching it for the Light Cycle …

I have seen the movie to the point where I have it almost memorized and still laugh like i did when I saw it first. I don't think there is a solid 90 seconds without a laugh out loud moment from first to last frame.

Surprising sleeper hit. This is one of those movies that seems like it was as fun to make as it was too watch.

I hate to see people embarrassed even when they deserve it. When it was over I wound up disliking the deluded as much as the deluders.

The Lovely Bones (2009)
Awful. But what finally ultimately ruined it was the total misuse of the final song (This Mortal Coil's Song to the Siren is not a happy song, it is the most powerful love-tease song in English; inappropriate doesn't begin to cover it).

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
This is the largest budget movie where the camera almost never moves. I mean how much does it cost to pan or actually zoom instead of cut? Also the fight scenes lasted about a minute combined so apparently all the money went into CGI wolves and glitter (last time I checked glitter was still pretty cheap unless they have invented a kind that you can in fact wash off). Finally, acting? Hello, I'm convinced …

Zookeeper
This was honestly one of the stupidest movies i saw in 2011 and thats saying something. Its like a bad mash up of Paul Blart, Night at the Museum, and Madagascar. The plot has big holes in it, and on top of being dumb didnt make much sense, and the one thing that really really made me dislike the whole film was the voices that they used for the animals...outright irritating!

Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!
Crazy as it may sound, I was one of those kids that really didn't care for Scooby-Doo. And after sitting through some of these episodes like two years ago, it was just a painful experience. This could very easily be the least imaginative and overly redundant kids show ever. After like a hundred episodes they still never learned there's no such thing as ghost, and the bad guys after they got …

I have been under the weather the past week nursing a really bad cold.   I have spent a lot of time under the comforter watching old movies on Netflix.   I have been watching some really old films from the 1930’s and 1940’s.  I really enjoy watching the early talkies from the 1930’s.  There is still that silent film feeling to the movie without the …

Watchmen
I'm a firm believer in that you shouldn't review something if you don't know the full story (or at least the background), like a person who doesn't play video games reviewing a video game movie or criticizing a Sci-fi film because you don't understand something or a better example me reviewing the Watchmen Movie.      See i never read the graphic novel …

Park Chan Wook's 2nd film in the Vengeance trilogy is one of the best films ever conceived, in Korea, and anywhere else in the world. Truly a gripping, riveting, contemporary classic that won numerous international film awards. This is a tale of revenge taken to the extreme, Park artfully blends repulsive elements into something truly poetic and beautiful with an ending that is so different and …
