Excellent high resolution camera for the price!

Up until now I've used Sony Cybershot digital cameras for the last 7-8 years. We finally gave up on Sony this past November and got this Canon Powershot camera.

Overall, we couldn't be happier with this point and shoot.  It has factory settings for all sorts of photo situations, including an aquarium setting, which my husband uses frequently! It takes wonderful photos that can be used to make poster-sized prints. The 10 MP resolution has been more than I need!

I also like that it uses SD and SDHC memory cards so I can take advantage of the emerging SDHC technology. Using SD cards versus Sony's Memory Sticks is also better. I can plug the card directly into my husband's laptop without any memory card readers and for my laptop, I was able to get a memory card reader for free with a purchase of the SD memory card. With the Sony Memory Stick, I always had to plug the camera directly into the laptop and dealing with the USB cordwas a pain.

The image stabilizer works very well too.  Compared to our Sony cameras, Canon is far better for nearly the same price.  The factory settings are good enough to leave alone.  I can actually capture fireworks photos without having to play with a bunch of settings and having to hold it incredibly still.  I still have to hold the camera pretty still, but it's a lot more forgiving than my last Sony.

The optical zoom is really important to me and it hasn't failed me yet!

I feel like the buttons, such as the zoom wheel, and menu interface was not as intiative as the Sony but that could just be being used to how Sony cameras work. I've learned how to use the Canon pretty quickly but I'm sure there are features that I don't know about yet!

Overall, I'm very happy with this camera and look forward to taking many photos with it for years to come!
