Great Travel Lens

Pros: Focal range, warranty, ease of use.

Cons: Not as sharp or contrasty as a prime lens. Doesn't have Nikon name on it.

I currently own the previous version of this lens, the Super. I have this attached to my Nikon F5 whenever I travel. This lens can cover just about anything that comes along. The pictures that it produces are similar in quality to my old Nikon Series E 36-72 Zoom. How does it compare to my Nikon prime lenses? Well as you might guess, not quite as sharp and contrasty. But do any of the zooms out there compare to a prime lens? I purchased this lens knowing of the shortcomings but the advantages far outweigh the shortcomings. One thing that surprised me about this lens was it's near silent operation. The focusing mechanism with this lens is very quiet. It is definitely quieter than both my Nikon AF 28-80 or 35-105 lenses. I primarily use this lens when I travel. It is light and inexpensive. I don't worry about abusing this lens because it feels that it is built to last, is so inexpensive to replace and the six year warranty is the best in the business. So if you are looking for a high quality lens for travel that covers a large range, this is it. One million users can't be wrong.
